E-Malt.com News article: USA, MA: Lost Towns Brewing opens its doors in Gilbertville village
Brewery news

The art of local beer making has arrived in the Gilbertville village, MassLive.com reported on December 17.

Lost Towns Brewing opened its doors for the first time on Sunday, December 16 to the delight of a roomful of patrons who were the first to purchase and taste the brand.

The business, located at 483 Main St., the former Czabaj's market, was named after the four Massachusetts towns - Dana, Prescott, Greenwich and Enfield - that were dissolved in the 1930s to make way for the Quabbin Reservoir public works project.

Currently, a half-dozen beers are on sale: Prescott Porter, Czabaj IPA, Kitchen Sink Pale Ale, Farm Dog Pale Ale, LTB EXP #1 American IPA and Winsor Dam Wheat.

"Our hope for the brewery is to create a community space for those who love what we love, and we are committed to sourcing as many local ingredients as possible while keeping it in within our local economy," Lost Towns states on its website.

"Local farm ingredients incorporated into our beers include summer fruits like apricots and cherries, fall produce like apples and pumpkins, and aromatic fresh herbs like lemongrass and basil. Lost Towns Brewing's connection with the farm gives us the unique opportunity to try some 'outside the box' beers with an emphasis on locally grown ingredients," the company said.

The brewing company is operated by Curtis Stillman, Paul McNeil and Pam and James Spurrell.

Spurrell Properties LLC purchased the former Czabaj market for $40,000 in September 2017.

The hours of operation at Lost Towns Brewing are Friday, 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
