| E-Malt.com News article: USA, MN: Lake of the Woods Brewing Company already open in Warroad
Minnesota’s northernmost brewery opened on June 1 in Warroad, the Grand Forks Herald reported.
Lake of the Woods Brewing Company, 104 Main Ave. NE, opened at 11 a.m. and the building was full until bar close at 10 p.m., said Brittney Peterson, head of sales and events for the brewery.
“All around it was a great opening,” Peterson said. “We felt great love from the community.”
Beer drinkers can sit on the patio and look out onto the Warroad River, keeping with the brewery’s “make it lake time” theme, Peterson said.
The brewery is open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“While we are a functioning taproom that only sells our beer, we didn’t want to compete against other local businesses in town more than we already are to keep those good relationships,” Peterson said.
Patrons can get food from a food truck, bring in food or get food delivered from other local businesses, an example of the brewery supporting its neighboring businesses, Peterson said.
Ontario-based Lake of the Woods Brewing Company partnered with American-based Lake of the Woods Brewing Company to bring the beer to Minnesota.
This is the first place Americans can buy Lake of the Woods beer in the United States.
Lake of the Woods Brewing Company originally opened in 1898 in Kenora, Ont., until big brewers, such as Budweiser, forced doors to close, Peterson said. The brewing company reopened in 2013 in downtown Kenora. The brewery has plans to expand to Winnipeg later this year as well.
