E-Malt.com News article: USA, NJ: Four City Brewing to become City of Orange’s first brewery in nearly 40 years
Brewery news

Once home to multiple successful breweries, Orange hasn’t housed one since Rheingold Beer shuttered in 1980.

Later this month, Four City Brewing will be the first in the city to serve its own suds in nearly 40 years, NJBIZ reported on August 2.

The 4,600-square-foot craft brewery will open as part of the 55 S. Essex Ave. development.

“The diversity of the town, the long history of brewing and our location right next to the NJ Transit Orange station were key factors in our decision to be here,” said Four City Brewing Co-founder Roger Apollon Jr. in a statement. “We look forward to being a meaningful part of this vibrant community.”

Longtime Orange residents Apollan, Jeff Gattens and Anthony Minervino co-own the brewery. They named it after the four Oranges—West Orange, East Orange, South Orange and Orange. The three neighbors conceived the idea over the last decade.

The 55 S. Essex Ave. development by L+M Development Partners includes 72 mixed-income rental apartments and nearly 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail and parking, a big change from its last life as an unoccupied warehouse and cold storage facility.

“I welcome Four City Brewing to our Orange Business family,” said City of Orange Township Mayor Dwayne Warren in a statement. “Their commitment to the City of Orange Township is an example of the public/private partnership we all value, that continues to help us move Orange forward.”

Four City will feature a variety of styles including IPAs, stouts, sours and saisons.
