| E-Malt.com News article: USA, MI: The Drifa Brewing Company waiting for final approval to open in Marquette
Michigan's first co-op brewery in Marquette is very near completion, UpperMichigansSource.com reported on August 26.
The Drifa Brewing Company is waiting for final approval from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. The final licensing application will go in front of the commission on August 28.
After final licensing and approval, owners can begin the brewing process and open the doors to customers.
Drifa is different because instead of one owner, about 350 people actually own it together.
"The fact that you can come here and drink the beer and taste it in a brewery that is actually owned by you and your friends as well is part of the specialness of the process,” said President of Drifa Brewing Company and the Marquette Brewing Cooperative, David Gill.
Gill added that he hopes to be open for business within the next three or so weeks.
