| E-Malt.com News article: USA, IN: 3 Floyds Brewing Co. closing its flagship brewpub in Munster
One of the largest craft breweries in the Hoosier state is closing its flagship brewpub in Munster, the Inside Indiana Business reported on December 16.
In a letter to investors, 3 Floyds Brewing Co. says the brewery will continue to produce its beer and spirits, as well as packaged food items and merchandise, which will still be available for curbside pickup in the Lake County city.
The Times of Northwest Indiana reported the decision was announced in a letter to investors.
"As many of you know, this pandemic has not been kind to the restaurant industry, and we are no exception," the letter said. "As of December 1, 2020, we have decided to permanently close 3 Floyds Brewpub. This decision was not easy for us, but at the end of the day, the safety of our customers and staff will always be our top priority."
The brewpub first closed in March at the beginning of the pandemic and 3 Floyds notified the state that it was furloughing 49 employees. The brewery decided not to reopen the facility in May when in-person dining was allowed to resume, according to The Times.
3 Floyds has been rated the No. 1 craft brewery in the world by RateBeer.com on multiple occasions. Earlier this year, its Dark Lord beer was included in the list of "30 Beers That Changed America" by food, drink, travel and entertainment website Thrillist.
