| E-Malt.com News article: USA, CA: Fort Point Beer Company closes its brewing venture in Marin
Fort Point Beer Company has closed its first brewing venture in Marin after 11 years, SFGate reported on July 20.
Mill Valley Beerworks opened in 2009 when Fort Point founders Justin and Tyler Catalana "first got the brewing bug and set out to open a small brewery and cafe nestled among the redwoods," the beer company said on Instagram.
The Catalana brothers could not be immediately reached for comment as to why the restaurant and brewery closed.
Mill Valley Beerworks was "crowdfunded by the community and built by hand by the brothers with their dad Michael," the social media post says.
Just five years after Beerworks' founding, the Catalanas launched Fort Point Beer Company in San Francisco. They now run four taprooms in San Francisco and Oakland, as well as a brewery in the Presidio. All taprooms are currently closed, with the exception of the Lower Haight location.
Beerworks was closed in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and has not opened its doors since.
"It's hard to argue that 11 years isn't a good run," they said on Instagram. "Thank you to everyone who's ever been part of the Beerworks family."
