Four major Japanese brewers have reported year-on-year rises in their beer and quasi-beer sales for October, with demand for low-priced "third-segment" products recovering from the impact of last year's tax hike, Jiji Press reported on November 11.

Beer and quasi-beer sales by volume grew 14 pct at Suntory Beer Ltd., 8 pct at Sapporo Breweries Ltd. and 1 pct at Kirin Brewery Co., while those by value increased 9 pct at Asahi Breweries Ltd.
