E-Malt.com News article: Canada, ON: Kensington Brewing Company to reopen its Toronto location
Brewery news

Kensington Brewing Company has announced that its original location in Toronto’s Kensington Market which closed earlier this year will soon be reopening, the Canadian Beer News reported on May 29.

As reported last month, Kensington was purchased in early 2023 by Mascot Brewery, and its locations in both Toronto and Vaughan were subsequently closed to the public.

However, a new statement from Mascot confirms that the “new ownership quietly continued brewing out of their Edgeley Blvd location in Vaughan”, while the space in Toronto has been undergoing renovations.

“The goal of purchasing Kensington Brewing Co. was to better service our community by supporting the growth and production of locally brewed high-quality beers, and to create an additional space where people can feel like they belong,” says Aaron Protho, owner of Mascot Brewery. “This partnership supports and streamlines production efforts while maintaining fresh and exciting products that align with each individual brewery.”

As part of the renovations, the main brewhouse has been removed from the Toronto location. A nano-brewing system is being installed for the production of small batch beers, but primary brands such as Baldwin FishEYE PA and Augusta Ale will now be brewed exclusively in Vaughan.

The Kensington Market taproom will also be the home of Side Piece, a new pizza brand from Protho.

Kensington Brewing will be reopening in June at 299 Augusta Ave. in Toronto.
