E-Malt.com News article: USA, OR: Assembly Brewing to open its second location in early 2024
Brewery news

Assembly Brewing, the first black-owned brewery in Oregon, has revealed it will open its second location in early 2024, The Drinks Business reported on December 19.

The new venue will be located on NE Alberta Street in the former location of Bella Pizza and, in its new iteration, plans to serve Detroit-style pizzas to guests.

According to the brewer, the site will be open seven days a week from 11am-10pm and also offer a beer and pizza delivery service. The Assembly team have revealed plans to serve up five pizza by-the-slice options along with a beer or fountain drink special.

At the new venue, Assembly’s beer will be available from eight taps along with cider, wines, and a selection of cocktails and spirits.

Assembly Brewery owner, brewmaster and chef George Johnson said: “Whether it’s through beer, pizza, a love of sports or perhaps trivia, we’re excited to try a few new things in 2024.”

Johnson revealed that he originally crafted the proprietary dough recipe for the new site with the assistance of legendary pizza chef Shawn Randazzo, who died back in 2020 and will be bringing the Detroit-style pizza – which has a rectangular shape and extra thick crust – to the area.

Johnson, who was born and raised in the Detroit area, has noted that his venues will be two of only a few places on the West Coast serving a true-to-style Detroit pizza alongside craft beer.

Johnson established Assembly Brewing back in March 2019 as the only black-owned brewery in the state. The brand is now known for offering a wide selection of brews that can be enjoyed with signature style pizzas.
