| E-Malt.com News article: USA, FL: Outcast Brewing to debut in former Brutalist Temple of Beer space in St Petersburg
A brewhouse with a Prosecco bar, a beer garden, and a live music stage is coming to the former home of The Brutalist Temple of Beer in St. Petersburg, St Pete Rising reported on March 19.
Residents Richie and Jill Hamm recently purchased the 10,7470-square-foot industrial property at 1776 11th Avenue North in a $2.3 million deal.
The two-story building, located between the Historic Uptown and the North Kenwood neighborhoods, was formerly home to Flying Boat Brewing Company and The Brutalist Temple of Beer, which was owned and operated by Tampa’s King State Coffee Roasters.
The new brewery will be named Outcast Brewing Company.
"We want to lay down our roots here and create a place that welcomes everyone - come as you are," Richie said to St. Pete Rising.
He grew up in the Florida panhandle and has lived in St. Pete for four years.
Richie has a tech background, and Jill owns The Pilates Place at Lakewood Ranch in southern Manatee County.
"The brewhouse is in the perfect location in a great neighborhood near the future Rays and Tropicana Field redevelopment," Richie said about the initial draw to the building.
The Hamms plan to revamp the entire property and create an intimate Prosecco bar area, a craft beer section with games, an outdoor bar, and a stage for live music.
"We want to cater to different groups," Richie said.
"Our family loves IPAs, but my wife does not," he chuckled. "We are working on different recipes. Eventually, we would like to distribute our beers, but don't want to lose sight of serving St. Pete."
Although the brewery will not serve food, the Hamms said they will have food trucks onsite and want the property to become a community hub, hosting events for small businesses. Jill may teach Pilates classes on certain days at the brewery.
The Hamms are currently in the process of hiring veteran brewers, bar staff, and managers.
Outcast Brewing Company will have a grand opening in June.
