E-Malt.com News article: UK: Damm launching gluten-free Daura 0.0% beer in the UK
Brewery news

Barcelona-founded brewer Damm, celebrating its 150th anniversary, is launching gluten-free Daura 0.0% in the UK following demand; with an initial, exclusive launch in Tesco, the Bar Magazine reported on April 28.

Daura has long been recognised as a trusted choice, being the most award-winning gluten-free lager in the world for preserving both body and taste. Daura 0.0% offers this same flavour and character in a non-alcoholic beer with certified gluten-free status – a combination that is scarce in the UK market.

Consumption of products without gluten has been growing alongside the call for a premium, alcohol-free beer to support moderation. With Daura 0.0%, those with an intolerance or opting to avoid gluten have a trusted alcohol-free brand associated with the critically acclaimed Daura.

Luke White, Damm UK Managing Director explains:

“We know from consumer insight that there is demand for beers that work for people managing dietary requirements as well as those moderating their alcohol intake. Daura 0.0% brings a world-class, certified gluten-free lager that is the most awarded gluten-free beer to the alcohol-free offering for the first time. We’re delighted to be launching it exclusively with Tesco, a partner that shares our passion for these niches.”

What sets Daura 0.0% apart from other products, is its brewing method. Rather than substituting gluten-containing grains with alternatives, Damm’s master brewers developed a proprietary enzymatic process: enzymatic hydrolysation and protein precipitation. It breaks down the gluten’s molecular chain while preserving the beer’s character. The alcohol is then gently removed by advanced vacuum distillation.

Initially, Daura 0.0% will be available exclusively at Tesco in 4 x 330ml cans. It will then be rolled out further.
