E-Malt.com News article: EU & UK: Barley prices higher due to hot weather across Europe
Barley news

Barley prices are higher due to hot weather sweeping across Europe, potential impacting the final quality, mainly spring-sown barley. Winter barley prices are following higher, despite a harvest with a near normal result and only minor quality variability, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

The EU-27 barley exports ended the crop’25 cycle at nearly 3.5 mln tonnes ahead of crop’24, which has been very supportive to prices for several months.

RMI team’s visit to Denmark and Sweden in late June presented good crop progression but the recent heat was not helpful, as moisture was already in need.

There is rain in the forecast for Denmark and Sweden which will be essential at this stage.

UK’s winter harvest is set to advance and looks good while spring, although dry in places, is ok but planted area is down sharply. Prices are following closely French spring crop developments.
