As a result of sales decrease in 2002, the German brewer Warsteiner plans to axe workplaces. The company’s sales fell 8.9% in 2002 down to 3.91 million. The brewer has stopped the supply of beer to German supermarket chain Lidl and that will result in an annual 200,000 hl sales decrease.

Although the company said it would not have to resort to forces redundancies, a total of 152 jobs out of 951 will be made.

“Warsteiner is also the only company to announce it will rise the beer price in February 2003.”
