Kent brewer Shepherd Neame announced on August 1 that it is teaming up with The History Channel to present "Spitfire Summer" - four weeks of special programmes marking the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Britain to air from 22 August to 15 September.
The sponsorship includes the world premiere of The Battle of Britain using unseen footage from the famous 1969 film, exposing the myths surrounding the battle and its place as a defining moment in our history.
Other programmes featured within Spitfire Summer include: "Hitler's War: The Battle of Britain", "Spitfire: Defender of the Skies", "Spitfire Airshow'" and "The History of Biggin Hill".
The promotion will feature Spitfire branding in the opening and closing credits of each programme, plus on-air promotions on The History Channel, The Biography Channel and associated websites and newsletters.
Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame said: "We are delighted to join with The History Channel in marking this crucial turning point in the nation's history with four weeks of gripping documentaries and dramas. This summer, we invite all beer-lovers to raise a glass of Spitfire to the glorious memory of The Few."
Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale was first brewed in 1990 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the battle and raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund. It proved so popular that, as well as raising in excess of £27,000 for the Fund and contributing towards other charitable organisations, it enjoyed dramatic sales growth and has become a national ale brand.
