Carlsberg Breweries A/S has appointed Jesper Bjørn Madsen as Senior Vice President of Carlsberg Breweries A/S with primary responsibility for the Asian activities as of 1 August 2003, the company reported on January 29, 2003.

Jesper Bjørn Madsen is currently CEO of Carlsberg Hong Kong Ltd. and Chief Operations Officer responsible for Carlsberg Asia's activities in Hong Kong, China and Laos, the company said. He joined Carlsberg in 1984 as a lawyer and was appointed Vice President responsible for the coordination of international activities in 1991. He has been working in Hong Kong since 1995.

The management structure of Carlsberg Asia will change as a result of Jesper Bjørn Madsen's return to Copenhagen. With immediate effect, Jørgen Bornhøft is appointed CEO of Carlsberg Asia and Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi takes up the position as Deputy CEO. Jørgen Bornhøft is currently CEO of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad and Chief Operations Officer responsible for the activities in South East Asia.

It has not yet been decided who will take over from Jørgen Bornhøft in Malaysia and Jesper Bjørn Madsen in Hong Kong.
