E-Malt.com News article: France: Groupe Soufflet announced the closure of its 17,000 tonnes malting plant

According to a press report, Groupe Soufflet, the world’s leading malster, is planning to close its malting plant in Ebersmunster on September 30 2006. This a malting plant of 17,000 tonnes per annum of production capacity.

Groupe Soufflet attributed the closure to the excessive competition that is due to the global overcapacity and a dramatic increase of energy prices.
