E-Malt.com News article: UK: Carlsberg UK will launch new Denmark-made brews family range in the specialty beer sector
Brewery news

Carlsberg is extending its footprint in the speciality beer sector with the launch of Jacobsen range, a new family of brews made in Denmark, the Morning Advertiser published October 19.

The Jacobsen range will initially feature two varieties, Saaz Blonde and Bramley Wit, and it will be the first time that the beers have been available outside of Scandinavia.

The brand was initially launched in Denmark in 2005, in response to the increased interest in speciality beers and the concept of complementing food with beer. The new beers were developed in the Jacobsen Brewhouse - the same buildings where the original Carlsberg Brewery was located.

Saaz Blonde is 7.1% abv and is brewed according to the Belgian tradition for a "blonde" light, top-fermented beer. Bramley Wit is a lower 4.6% abv wheat beer, infused with apples and fresh orange peel.

Darran Britton, marketing director for Carlsberg UK, said: "The beers are named after our founder JC Jacobsen who was a pioneer in the brewing world.

"They are brewed using the very best ingredients, so we feel that Jacobsen really defines the essence of Carlsberg and our brewing heritage. Saaz Blonde and Bramley Wit are both premium speciality beers that will appeal to the discerning beer connoisseur."

Saaz Blonde and Bramley Wit will be sold in 750 ml bottles, designed to make them more appealing for sharing with food.
