Pyramid Breweries Inc. reported a profit for the third quarter of $130,000, or 1 cent a share, down from $439,000, or 5 cents a share, a year ago, Seattle Post Intelligencer posted November 14. Net sales rose 14 percent to $4.1 million. The Seattle-based brewer said the most recent quarter included a $700,000 charge to settle a tax dispute with the federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, while the year-ago quarter included a $415,000 gain on the sale of brewing equipment. Without those items, Pyramid said, pro-forma net income rose from $24,000 a year ago to $830,000 in the most recent period.
