E-Malt.com News article: USA, WY: Casper City Council approves Cygnet Brewing’s license to operate in Old Yellowstone District
Brewery news

The Casper City Council, by minute action on May 7, passed three liquor license–related matters following public comment for each item, Oil City News reported.

One of the approved businesses is a new microbrewery in a century-old building in the Old Yellowstone District.

The council held its regular meeting at its temporary chambers at The Lyric, 230 W. Yellowstone Highway.

Councilor Amber Pollock, a co-owner of Backwards Distillery, excused herself from the discussion and votes.

These were the businesses winning approval for their requests.

Transfer of ownership interest for Retail Liquor License No. 21 for Wyoming Downs OTB 12, doing business as Wyoming Downs OTB, 1121 Wilkins Circle.

New Microbrewery Liquor License No. 11 for Cygnet Brewing LLC, doing business as Cygnet Brewing, 613 W. Yellowstone Highway.

Transfer of location for Satellite Winery Liquor License No. 1 from Table Mountain Vineyards LLC, doing business as Table Mountain Vineyards Satellite, 731 E. 2nd St., to Table Mountain Vineyards LLC, doing business as Table Mountain Vineyards Satellite, 1944 CY Ave.

City Manager Carter Napier said the Cygnet microbrewery license is new and it will occupy and give a new use to what he called a “legacy building” in the Old Yellowstone District.

During the public comment period, Cygnet Brewing President Richard Schwahn said it is a family business and will be a great opportunity for the area. Schwahn later said the building was constructed in 1923, and during its history has included a co-op, a car battery store, a hair salon and a martial arts studio.

The family bought it last year, he said.

The microbrewery will feature 10 taps and will have a kitchen with a limited menu of Neapolitan and Detroit pizzas, as well as power salad bowls.

The business should be open by the end of June, he said.
