The brewing giant posted sales of $2.486 billion for the quarter which narrowly beat consensus estimates of $2.478 billion. Revenue was up 2.8% over the same quarter the previous year.

Heineken NV said on February 11 that Chief Executive Jean-Francois van Boxmeer will step down after leading the company for 15 years, and it named Dolf van den Brink, who currently heads its Asia Pacific operations, as his successor.
The Dutch brewer said Mr. Van den Brink will join its executive board on April 23 and that Mr. Van Boxmeer will hand over his responsibilities on June 1.
Mr. Van Boxmeer joined Heineken as a management trainee in 1984, was appointed as member of its executive board in 2001 and became CEO in 2005, the company said.

Ethiopia: Heineken debuts its signature draft beer in Ethiopia
|
Quietly and without any fanfare, Heineken debuted its signature draft beer in Ethiopia last week, The Reporter Ethiopia said on February 8.
Maker of one of the most visible brands in the nation, including Walia, Bedele and Harar, this is to be a high premier draft that will complement its everyday brand of beer, Walia. In addition, the company has the bestselling non-alcoholic Sofi and Buckler drinks under its fold.
The company, one of the two top producers of beer, inaugurated its brewery in 2015 in Kilinto in the presence of the then Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn. It had the capacity of producing 1.5 mln hl of beer.
The company first entered the Ethiopian market in 2011 after buying Bedele and Harar brands and their facilities, for the sum of EUR 310 million, a still record sum for such acquisition in Ethiopia.
However, most of the local beer markets have suffered and Heineken was not an exception. This came about when the Ethiopian government decided to end beer advertisements on television and suddenly decided to spike the excise tax to beer sold locally, to about an additional 8 Birr, pushing it from per bottle sum of 3 birr to 11 birr.

USA: Molson Coors launches new wheat beer Blue Moon LightSky
|
Blue Moon Brewing Co. announced on February 7 the national launch of a new light brew, Blue Moon LightSky: a light citrus wheat beer brewed with real tangerine peel and dry hopped with Azacca hops. At only 95 calories and packed with flavor, Blue Moon LightSky delivers against the beverage industry’s “better for you” trend without compromising on taste”, Brewbound reported.
“We wanted to make this beer unique and distinctive to the Blue Moon portfolio,” said Max Walker, vice president of above premium beer at Molson Coors. “We think Blue Moon LightSky is going to bring new drinkers into the Blue Moon family of brands and continue to elevate the brand as a whole.”
The new brew is both light and sessionable, with 3.6 grams of carbohydrates and 4 percent ABV, and marries Blue Moon’s signature haze with bright citrus notes of real tangerine peel and a subtle tropical hop flavor. Packaged in sleek 12oz slim cans, in 6-pack and 12-pack varieties, Blue Moon LightSky is the perfect grab-and-go option for wherever the day takes you, like lounging poolside, barbecuing outdoors or brunching with friends.
Blue Moon LightSky will be supported with a dedicated marketing campaign, beginning in early March, and will appear
