World: Heineken due to raise beer prices for consumers

Heineken is due to raise beer prices for consumers as it expects significant increases in production costs, ITV reported on April 20.
Earlier this year, the world's second largest brewer, which also makes Birra Moretti and Amstel, saw soaring costs due to commodity inflation and rising supply chain costs.
On April 20, the Dutch brewer said it will look to raise prices further as it warned of tough conditions ahead.
Dolf van den Brink, chairman of the company, said: “Looking ahead, we see more macro-economic uncertainty and expect significant additional inflationary headwinds putting further pressure on our cost base.
“We will take additional actions including pricing to manage these challenges whilst we continue to invest in superior, balanced growth and sustainable value creation.”
Despite the uncertain outlook, Heineken sold more beer than expected over the past three months as drinkers returned to pubs and bars following the removal of Covid restrictions.
The group said net revenues jumped by 24.9% to 5.7 billion euros for the three months to March.
The company added that revenues also benefited from a 5.7% increase in volumes.

UK: Guinness launches cold brew coffee beer in the UK
|
Guinness has launched a cold brew coffee beer in the UK as parent company Diageo looks to expand the brand beyond pints of the black stuff, Yahoo Finance reported on April 19.
The new beer, which will be available in 440ml cans in Tesco stores from April 19 and other stores in the coming weeks, has already been on sale in the US for a number of months.
According to Guinness, the drink picks up on the existing coffee flavours in a pint of Guinness by adding cold brew coffee, which has been steeped in cold water for long periods.
The drink has around 2mg of caffeine per can, about the same as a cup of decaf coffee.
“The coffee notes already in Guinness make the creation of Guinness cold brew coffee beer a natural – and delicious – next step in our proud history of innovation,” said Grainne Wafer, global brand director for Guinness.
She said the company hoped the product would introduce new consumers to the brand.
Guinness hopes to launch the produce in more countries across Europe and Asia this year.
It comes amid a major expansion of the Guinness brand beyond the traditional pints it is best known for.

Ukraine: Agriculture ministry revises up its spring crops area forecast
|
Ukraine's agriculture ministry on April 15 revised up its forecast for the area to be sown to 2022 spring crops, giving no reason for the new outlook, the Successful Farming reported.
Around 14 million hectares of various grains, cereals, and oilseed might be sown this year, compared with the previous forecast of 13.4 million hectares, the ministry said in a report.
The acreage is still smaller than in 2021 due to hostilities in some Ukrainian regions cause by the Russian invasion. Ukraine sowed a total of 16.9 million hectares of spring crops in 2021.
Ukraine is a major global agriculture producer and exporter, but the Russian invasion since February is expected to lead to a sharp reduction in the 2022 harvest and exports in the forthcoming 2022/23 season.
The ministry said farmers had already started sowing spring wheat, barley, peas, sunflower, rape seed, sugar beet, and soybeans.
It said farmers had sown 146,400 hectares of spring wheat, 742,900 hectares of spring barley, 100,500 hectares of peas, 122,600 hectares of corn, 433,700 hectares of sunflower, 110,300 hectares of sugar beet and some other crops.
The ministry gave no exact expected sowing acreage for each commodity.
