Brewery news USA, MI: Brighton couple opens Full Circle Brews with a variety of unique beers
A husband and wife in Brighton are putting their brewmaster skills to the test with their new business venture, CBS News reported on June 23.

"It kind of just became a come home one day and say hey do you want to open a brewery and I said sure so, here we are," said Colleen Miller.

In a plaza off Grand River Avenue in Brighton is Full Circle Brews, a microbrewery with a variety of unique beers.

"Four taps that you can count on, four beers that you know. And then there will always be six rotating fresh flavors," said Colleen Miller.

"Sour beers, some fruit beers, and trying to have something in the lager family and something in the stout family," Nick Miller said.

Owners Nick and Colleen Miller are new to the brewing industry but have roots in the restaurant business.

"We met in the restaurant industry. I was 18, he was 20. We both went through college. I have my masters; he has his degree in engineering, and we said we would never come back to this industry again because we call them our big kid jobs. And it was just something where we have a calling, and we brought ourselves right back ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, CO: Crazy Mountain Brewery to celebrate its grand opening in Denver on June 23
In order to have the chance for a future, Crazy Mountain Brewery had to tear everything up and start from scratch, the Denver Westword reported.

From noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 23, the brewery will celebrate its grand opening at a new location, 1505 Ogden Street. The space is the former home of Alpine Dog Brewing Company, which reopened a half-mile away earlier this year.

At its peak, Crazy Mountain had over 35 employees on staff. Today there are only four, as well as a silent investor. Its beer used to be distributed in over thirty states and five countries. “It was insane,” recalls head brewer and COO AJ Chase, who joined the team seven and a half years ago. Before that, he worked at Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, New York.

Coming from a large and well-respected production brewery like Ommegang helped Chase improve production and logistics at Crazy Mountain, which moved down from Vail in 2015 and opened at 471 Kalamath Street, a building that had once been a Breckenridge Brewery location.

Since then, Crazy Mountain has been on a wild ride, with many court actions related to rental and leasing disputes, as well as plenty of ventures that didn’t pan ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, NY: Aspire Brewing opening its doors on June 22
Aspire Brewing, a new 30,000 state-of-the-art square foot brewery, restaurant, and entertainment facility at the entrance to the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill, is opening its doors to the public on June 22. A unique dining and entertainment destination, around $10 million was invested in the project that took months to build and is now the largest brewery in the region, the Mid Hudson News reported.

“It’s just going to become a place for people to come and create memories,” said Luz Pesick, vice president of Operations at Aspire. “We have activities for the whole family such as indoor golf, cornhole, and axe throwing, just to name a few.”

Aspire is also the only brewery in the region to feature a “pour your own” tap wall. “Each customer, if they choose, can pour up to 32 ounces of beer at once. However, anytime after 32 ounces, if you choose you want more, we’re going to check you out to make sure you are safe to serve,” said Pesick. She emphasized the importance of the safety of Aspire’s guests.

Head brewer Rick Hatch said there are beers to please every palate at Aspire, with around ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, NY: 42 North Brewing Company proposing new location in East Aurora
42 North Brewing Company is proposing a downtown location. East Aurora’s popular brewery is taking space in the Wurlitzer Flats building at 674 Main Street. The news comes via a submittal to the Preservation Board seeking permission to install signs on the Theater District building, the Buffalo Rising reported on June 21.

Drew Blum renovated the former Tent City Building with commercial space on the ground floor and one large apartment on each of the four upper levels. The circa-1895 Beaux Arts style building was erected to house the business of A.E. Perren, a manufacturer of carriages, sleighs and harness. For sixty years, it served as a store for the Buffalo Wurlitzer Company which vacated the site in 1977. Tent City-Washington Surplus Center occupied the building until early-2020.

42 North opened its taps in 2015.

Brewery news USA, NJ: Slack Tide Brewing Company ready to move into new building
Slack Tide Brewing Company is ready to move into its new building on Route Nine in Cape May Court House, 97.3 ESPN reported on June 21.

The grand opening of the new brewery is on Friday, June 30th, with more details to follow.

Slack Tide was established by two Cape May county natives, brothers Jason and Tadhg Campbell, back in 2015 with the hope of creating a diverse, high-quality line of beers made with all-natural ingredients sourced locally whenever possible.

Well, they have created all that and then some, so much so that they are moving into a brand new building, replacing their former location on Route 83 in Clermont.

Brewery news USA, MI: Heights Brewing anticipates fall opening in Farmington
The owners of Heights Brewing in Farmington plan to offer a little something for everyone, the Hometown Life reported on June 23.

When the restaurant opens in early September, it will feature 24 taps offering a rotating selection of beers, wine, hard cider, mead, hard seltzer, hop water and root beer. Ryan Kavanagh, who owns the brewery alongside his wife Shawn MacDonnell, said everything will be made on-site.

Heights Brewing will also offer Bar-B-Que food. Kavanagh said all food will be gluten free. Ciders, seltzers, wine, hop water, root beer, mead and some of the beers will also be gluten free.

Heights Brewing is moving into the old Page's Food and Spirits, which closed in 2021, at 23621 Farmington Road, near Grand River Avenue. Fans of Page's will be greeted by a brand-new look in September. Heights Brewing's design features higher ceilings, more natural light and an updated bar top.

Kavanagh said he and MacDonnell are excited to become part of Farmington's lively downtown scene and social district.

"When my wife and I moved to this area, we started coming to downtown Farmington to hang out," he said. "We think it has a great small town vibe in a metro area ... Being able to ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, ME: Belfast Bay Brewing changes ownership
Five years after rescuing Maine’s D.L. Geary Brewing Company from certain extinction, Alan and Robin Lapoint have acquired another struggling Maine craft brew legend, Belfast Bay Brewing, makers of Lobster Ale and McGovern’s Oatmeal Stout, the Sun Journal reported on June 21.

The Lapoints also own Auburn-based The Strainrite Companies, which has been making liquid filtration products for at least six industries for the last 40 years.

Pat Mullen started the Belfast Bay brewpub in 1996 and hired legendary brewer Dan McGovern, dubbed the “Godfather of Maine Craft Beer” by Maine Magazine. The partnership lasted some eight years, with McGovern as head brewer, and brought the namesake McGovern’s Oatmeal Stout to the forefront, winning a World Brewing Championships silver medal, and gaining national notoriety.

Fast forward to 2023. “We have a really good relationship with Marcy and Pat,” Alan Lapoint said. “Pat started the brewery and he was getting to the point where they weren’t sure what they wanted to do. They wanted to kind of move on, but they’re still passionate about the brand because they started it, they’ve been around a really long time.”

Twenty-seven years and counting. Lapoint said Mullen approached them to see if they would be interested in continuing ...More info on site

Brewery news Australia: Lion to close pioneering Two Birds Brewing
Australia’s first female-led brewing company Two Birds Brewing is to cease production and its Melbourne brewpub will close as its owner Lion continues to shut some of its smaller craft beer brands, the Beer & Brewer reported on June 22.

The announcement follows its Bevy Brewing Co ceasing production back in May and the closure of its Tiny Mountain brand and venue just weeks prior. Earlier this month Lion announced it had purchased the site of Stone & Wood’s production facility and is now planning a major brewery and hospitality expansion at the Murwillumbah location.

In a statement Lion said Two Birds sales had “been on a downtrend for several years” and “despite continued marketing investment, it is not showing signs of a turnaround”. The last day of trade at Two Birds’ ‘The Nest’ venue and brewery in Spotswood will be July 21 and their beers will be available for sale until stock runs out.

Two Birds came under Lion ownership in late 2021 when it purchased Stone & Wood and the family of brands that fell under parent company Fermentum’s umbrella. Two Birds was sold to Fermentum earlier that same year after Jayne Lewis and Danielle Allen (pictured in that order above) ...More info on site
