USA, CA: Carbon Nation Brewing opening in Riverside on September 29
|
A new brewery is opening in Riverside on Friday, Sept. 29, the Press Enterprise reported.
Carbon Nation Brewing is the third brewery to occupy the spot at 9860 Indiana Ave., Unit 19.
The brewery was originally home to Thompson Brewing Co. (see below), which moved to a larger facility nearby at 9900 Indiana Ave., Suite 7.
It was then operated until earlier this year by Route 30 Brewing Co., which currently owns two Riverside breweries (11620 Sterling Ave., Suite C, and 3740 Mission Inn Ave.) and is working on a Corona brewpub.
Like many Inland Empire breweries, Carbon Nation Brewing is a family affair. Co-owner Ted Younglove’s son Andrew is head brewer and his daughter Mary is handling marketing.
Beers expected to be on tap opening weekend include The Big Lebeerski, a Russian imperial stout; Baja Blasted, a Mexican lager with lime and salt; Dreamland Express, a toasted amber ale; and Hazy Nation, a New England India pale ale.
Hours this weekend are 3-10 p.m. Friday, and noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

USA, OH: Thunderwing Brewing coming to Columbus on October 6th
|
“Quality, creativity, and community,” is what Jason Wings, local homebrewer, says he hopes to evoke in his new concept, Thunderwing Brewing, 614Now reported on September 28.
Taking over the now-closed Sideswipe Brewing location at 2419 Scioto Harper Dr., Thunderwing Brewing is going to start serving their wide variety of styles, from golden ales to dark stouts, starting Friday, October 6th, at 3pm.
Their grand opening party lasts all weekend: Friday at 3pm, Fetty’s Street Food will be parked there, and the taproom will be open until10. On Saturday, Back Room Coffee will be slinging their single origin espressos starting at 11am, and Eye of the Tiger will offer their iconic food-truck fare starting at 1pm. Then on Sunday, Sharecuterie Co. will be there from 12-7pm, serving charcuterie options.
“We want to consistently improve the quality of the beer. We want to never stop offering creative options for customers to try. And get creative with events as well,” Wing said. “With community, we want to partner with other organizations and help them drive their passion, their cause, help them take flight and rise up.”
Along with homemade, craft beers, this brewery plans on offering rotating food trucks all year long, not just on their grand

USA, MA: Magnify Brewing LLC’s concept of new brewery approved by Medford Planning Board
|
A brewery that will distribute to bars, restaurants and liquor stores and serve its beer in a Main Street, Medford, tasting room and outdoor beer garden was unanimously approved Wednesday, September 27 by the Medford Planning Board.
17 North Main Street LLC, the property owner, will demolish the old Town Hall at 17 North Main Street and build the 8,200-square-foot building, Alexander Barth, of the Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman law firm, told the board. The property, which will front on North Main Street, is bounded by Post Office Lane and Charles Street.
The property owner is a unit of Magnify Brewing LLC, which operates a brewery and tasting room in Fairfield, New Jersey, said principal Eric Ruta, who said he is the founder and owner of Magnify Brewing.
Besides selling beer in its tasting room, the Fairfield operation distributes its beer to 350 commercial customers in New Jersey and other states, Ruta said.
The board gave the project preliminary and final site plan approval. No variances were sought for the site, which has been designated an Area in Need of Redevelopment by Township Council.
17 North Main LLC will purchase the property from the Township for $218,000 and the total cost of the

USA, FL: Black Flamingo Brewing to celebrate its Miami grand opening on September 30
|
Anyone driving on Oakland Park's 12th Avenue main drag — anchored by Funky Buddha Brewery to the north and the beloved Big Dog Station dive bar to the south — may have noticed the "coming soon" banner noticeably draped in a central storefront.
This month, however, the banner is no more, and a newly opened business has set up flags reading "open", the Miami New Times reported on September 27.
It's been a long time coming for the Broward-based brewery Black Flamingo Brewing, which will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, September 30.
"We see this as an opportunity to have a fresh start, with a new crowd and in a new neighborhood," Andres Wolff, managing partner of Black Flamingo, tells New Times. "It's been three years of bringing this to life, and good things come to those who wait."
In 2020, Wolff and his wife, Stephanie Tatta, opened Black Flamingo in Pompano Beach in the former Holy Mackerel space. During that time, the plan was to move the brewery to its current Oakland Park space by the end of the year, but — in the words of Tatta — the couple saw delay after delay due to a lengthy buildout and painfully slow

USA, MI: Motor City Brewing Works closes its Avenue of Fashion location in Detroit
|
Citing staffing challenges, Detroit craft beer pioneer Motor City Brewing Works has closed its second, newer location on the Avenue of Fashion, The Detroit News reported on September 27.
“Staffing challenges and increased workloads for existing employees have prevented us from fully delivering the MCBW experience we were hoping to contribute to the Avenue of Fashion,” reads a statement posted to Facebook this week, which also hinted at future plans for the building.
“Please stay tuned for further information on the historical next chapter of 19350 Livernois Avenue.”
MCBW’s Livernois spot opened in the summer of 2021 in a charming, rustic and historic building. The debut of the restaurant and taproom was a long time coming, having first released details of the building’s restoration in 2016.
It’s business as usual at the Motor City Brewing Works’ original location at 470 Canfield in Detroit. Owner John Lindardos opened that microbrewery in 1994 and it has been part of the city’s craft beer story ever since.
Known for labels like Ghettoblaster, Nut Brown Ale and Honey Porter, MCBW’s Canfield location currently has an Oktoberfest beer on tap and regularly hosts art shows and other community events.

USA, OH: Holy Trinity Brewing Co. closes until further notice
|
A unique Columbus craft brewery is closing its doors, at least for now, 614NOW reported on September 27.
According to a statement posted its Instagram, Holy Trinity Brewing Co. has closed.
“It is with great regret that we must close until further notice,” the statement reads. “Please keep an eye out here for further information. And always, remember…Don’t Be A Dick.”
It’s unclear if the brewery plans to reopen.
Opened by Tim and Jo McFeely in December of 2021, the duo embraced their Christian faith—-and their sense of humor—to come up with beer names like Coco Jesus and Hazy Jesus, based largely off recipes Tim McFeely created as home brews when he was serving as the nurse manager at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
The craft brewery, which allowed cats and dogs, is located Downtown at 155 N. Fifth St.

Belgium: Belgian Beer World accused of colluding with largest brewers
|
Just a few weeks ago now, the freshly minted Belgian Stock Exchange building reopened its 19th-century doors after years of renovations to much fanfare. And with it an interactive museum called Belgian Beer World.
As one of Brussels' most central and iconic buildings, the site is supposed to serve as a passageway and meeting point for all people, but with the added attraction of giving visitors an insight into the culture and history of Belgian beer.
But to the disappointment of many independent beer makers, they were priced out of having their own products on offer at the new museum, Euronews reported on September 29.
In an interview with Euronews, Jean-Pierre Van Roy, the owner of a family-run beer museum called Cantillon, criticised the new EU-funded Belgian Beer World and the Stock Exchange for essentially colluding with the country's biggest brewers to promote their own products in order to draw in more money.
"It's not a museum. I consider that the stock market operation by the large breweries is above all a commercial operation, undoubtedly with the idea of highlighting big brands," Van Roy said.
"There is absolutely no cultural goal pursued in the presentation of this so-called heritage."

Bulgaria: Beer maker Kamenitza completes first phase of rooftop solar photovoltaic system installation
|
Bulgarian brewer Kamenitza, part of U.S.-based Molson Coors Brewing Company, said on September 29 that it has completed the first phase of a rooftop solar photovoltaic system at its Haskovo brewery, for an initial investment of close to 3 million levs ($1.6 million/1.5 million euro), SeeNews reported.
The solar array comprises 4,350 panels at present and was installed by local company Hydrolia, which has also developed and operates the brewer's wastewater treatment plant and biogas installation, a Kamenitza spokeswoman told SeeNews. Kamenitza's treatment plant processes wastewater for Haskovo's entire Northern Industrial Zone.
The PV system, the construction of which began in December, was completed ahead of schedule, in eight months instead of the originally planned year and a half, the spokeswoman added. It was financed from the company's own funds and is the first solar park of this scale for Molson Coors worldwide.
The installation's output of 2 MWh is expected to cover up to 30% of the Kamenitza brewery's total energy consumption.
Currently, the facility spreads over more than 13,000 square metres. Kamenitza plans to expand it in the next two years, by installing more solar panels over another 5,000 sq m.
In 2022, Kamenitza's sales amounted to roughly 1.15 hectolitres, with 95% of
