World: Molson Coors Beverage Company announces proposed public offering of euro-denominated senior notes
|
Molson Coors Beverage Company announced on May 22 that it has commenced an underwritten public offering (the “Offering”) of euro-denominated senior notes (the “Notes”). The Offering is expected to close on or about May 29, 2024, subject to customary closing conditions.
Molson Coors intends to use the net proceeds of this Offering for general corporate purposes including the repayment of the EUR 800.0 million notes issued on July 7, 2016 upon maturity in July 2024.
Citigroup Global Markets Limited, BofA Securities, Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, Bank of Montreal, London Branch, J.P. Morgan Securities plc, RBC Europe Limited and Scotiabank (Ireland) Designated Activity Company are acting as joint book-running managers for the Offering.
The offering is being made pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement (including a prospectus) (File No. 333-277183) filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), which became effective upon filing.

World: Drinkers would pay more for eco-friendly beers, survey finds out
|
The majority of drinkers are more likely to buy planet-friendly beers in bars and supermarkets, according to a global survey by Pall Corporation, The Drinks Business reported on May 23.
Beer drinkers are willing to pay more for their pint if it helps to ease the planet’s global warming crisis, according to data released in a survey, conducted by the water and waste reduction company.
Almost half of 3,500 respondents across seven countries said they would choose a more expensive, but more sustainably-produced beer over a less expensive rival that does more damage to the environment. Plus, despite the cost-of-living crisis, respondents said they would be prepared to pay up to 30% more for a “greener” pint produced in a way that reduces waste and water and energy consumption.
The survey findings also found beer lovers are more aware of – and concerned about – the environmental impact of their pint than ever before with almost two-thirds (61%) having admitted that the sustainability of their beer now directly affected their choices in pubs, bars and supermarkets.

USA, CO: AB InBev to invest $15.5 million in its Fort Collins brewery
|
Anheuser-Busch announced on May 22 a $15.5 million investment in its Fort Collins brewery, which will go toward upgrading its bottling lines from packed to bulk glass. Shifting away from packed glass allows Fort Collins to streamline production in-house, strengthening its supply chain, reducing emissions, and driving efficiencies across the business. The Fort Collins brewery’s enhanced bottling lines will be fully operational by Summer 2024.
“Investing in the communities where our people live and work is part of who we are,” said Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “This investment in our Fort Collins brewery not only drives efficiencies for our business and improves the capabilities of our facility, but it also puts Anheuser-Busch in a unique position to build on our industry-leading support for our employees with on-the-job education and growth opportunities for our frontline workers.”

Azerbaijan: New beer production facility to be built in Gabala
|
A factory for the production of licensed brands of premium beer will be built in Gabala (northern Azerbaijan), Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov met with representatives of Georgian Beer Company LLC, with whom he discussed the prospects of the development of bilateral cooperation.
Within the framework of the meeting, Azerbaijan Investment Company OJSC and Georgian Beer Company Ltd signed an agreement on joint participation in the construction of a new plant in the Gabala district to produce licensed brands of premium-class beer, local brand beer, and soft drinks based on advanced international technologies.
To note, the plant, which will serve to expand export opportunities through the production of competitive products, is planned to create a production capacity of 140 million litres per year and about 300 new jobs.

USA, TX: Molson Coors reaches deal with workers to end Fort Worth strike
|
Molson Coors and 420 workers at its Fort Worth brewery are ending a three month-long strike after ratifying a new contract with the company late in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 22, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The new three-year contract includes wage increases and a better benefits package for workers and retirees, addressing the same issues workers represented by Teamsters Local 997 went on strike for back in mid-February. The specifics of the deal were not disclosed.
“Our members never gave up, they pushed back on this company until they got a fair contract that recognizes their contributions. Teamsters don’t back down from a fight and we will always fight for what we deserve,” Jeff Padellaro, director of the Teamsters brewery, bakery and soft drink conference, said in a statement.
Despite the strike, the plant’s shutdown didn’t impact supplies of Molson Coors products.
For Molson Coors, putting the strike behind them means the company can get operations in its Fort Worth plant fully back to normal. The contract should satisfy the 400-plus workers who went on strike, said Adam Collins, Molson Coors’ chief communications officer.

The Philippines & Australia: Filipino beer Engkanto launches in Australia
|
The popularity of Filipino beers in Australia is set to increase, with the of Engkanto, the most globally awarded craft beer from The Philippines, Beer & Brewer reported on May 23.
Engkanto craft beers that are made from 100 per cent all-natural, raw materials including locally sourced, native ingredients to The Philippines. The beer is imported and distributed by 7000 Islands Drinks and has been available at a range of independent bottle shops in Melbourne, NSW Central Coast, Perth and Western Sydney.
Siegfrid Bacani of 7000 Islands said he is looking forward to expanding Engkanto’s presence in both Australia’s off-premise and on-premise.
“We’re totally wrapped, to be expanding these ‘ridiculously tasty’ craft beers from the 7000 Islands of The Philippines,” Bacani said.
“And craft beer aficionados agree, with an esteemed panel of 75 judges, declaring three of Engkanto’s craft beers a winner at this year’s Australian Internation Beer Awards (AIBA). Personally, I can’t wait to get these Engkanto kegs into our hospitality partner venues come June 2024.”

Australia: Suntory begins work adding solar PV panels to its new multi-beverage facility
|
Beverage manufacturer Suntory Oceania has begun work adding solar PV panels to its new facility at Ipswich in Queensland which is now nearing completion, Aumanufacturing reported on April 22.
The company is building the $400 million facility to bring together the Australian operations of Suntory Global Spirits and Suntory Beverage & Food, uniting alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage manufacturing in one location.
The Chief Supply Chain Officer of Suntory Beverage & Food Oceania Ian Roberts said the facility provided extraordinary capabilities to fast-track innovation and disrupt the market.
Roberts said: “This is the largest single FMCG investment in Australia in over a decade.
“Our carbon neutral ‘smart’ facility – powered by a combination of solar, biomass and green energy – will give Suntory unrivalled ability to innovate, respond to customer demand, and deliver beverages that are made locally and sustainably.
“Led by our Growing For Good philosophy, Suntory has taken every opportunity to use leading technology and set new standards for sustainable manufacturing in Australia.”
Three sustainability investments underway at the site are:
