Low Tide Brewing will expand into a 26,800-square-foot facility, located at 0 Beer Garden Way on Johns Island, which will include a state-of-the-art brewing system and event space, according to the release. Brewery news USA, MD: Eden Town Brewing Company to become Caroline County’s first brewery
For the first time, a brewery will come to Caroline County. Construction is underway for the new Eden Town Brewing Company, located at 108 North 8th Street in Denton, MD, WMDT reported on November 10.

The building will be 8,000 square feet and will include a tap room, event space, and beer production space. The company hopes to also have live music outside the venue.

One of the owners of Eden Town, Sarah Dahl is excited to fill that void in her community.

“I think there are a lot of people who just aren’t familiar with everything that’s going on in Caroline County, we’ve got a lot of great spots, we got a place like ‘The Pub’ that has been open for a while and then we have new places like Craft Bakery and Earth Tones Cafe. So much is going on in Denton and Caroline County and this is just one more thing to show people who aren’t familiar with what we have to offer.”

Eden Town Brewing is expected to break ground in the summer of 2025.

Brewery news USA, FL: Mastry's Brewery expects to start work on St Pete Beach location by the end of the year
Plans are progressing for a 40,000-square-foot brewery and marketplace that will anchor a new mixed-use destination in Pinellas Park, St Pete Beach, St Pete Rising reported on November 12.

Matthew Dahm, founder and CEO of Mastry's Brewery, expects to start site work by the end of the year on a new 5,000-square-foot brewery and 36,000-square-foot indoor food hall and market at 5805 Park Boulevard.

Construction permits will be submitted soon for the project, which has been named Park Junction.

The 1.49-acre property previously housed a manufacturing building that has been demolished to make way for the new development, City Development Review Manager Megan Montesino said in a Facebook video, updating the public on the phased project.

Dahm shared new renderings of the future two-building hub with St. Pete Rising, including a courtyard with a children’s play area, an outdoor performance stage created from two 20-foot shipping containers, green space, and an activated rooftop with seating and lawn games.

The new brewery and marketplace will also feature a taproom, offices, art studios, and an event space with a full audio and visual setup.

“Overall, we want to have a project that’s an economic engine supporting small and growing companies that will complement each other ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, AZ: Borderlands Brewing Company welcomes folks into its newest location in Tucson
Over the weekend, Es Teran, owner of Borderlands Brewing Company, and the brew crew welcomed folks into its newest/third location at 5605 E. River Rd. in Tucson, Tucson Foodie reported on November 12.

With pool tables, arcade machines, plenty of seating, and an upstairs view of the city, the team had a successful soft opening up in the Foothills. They’re still ironing out a few of the fixes but they’re looking forward to a Grand Opening in the near future (stay tuned for the actual date).

Meanwhile, the taproom is open daily from 4 – 10 p.m. while the team finishes with renovations.

“We had a brew-tiful time hosting you all for our soft opening at Borderlands Brewing North! Thanks for your patience as we work out the small kinks (think of it as breaking in new beer shoes),” the Borderlands Brewing team shared. “The full liquor menu is pouring in this week, and we’re still on the hunt for cooks to get the kitchen fired up and ready to serve our delicious food.”

So, the new space will have a food menu, which is already equipped with a kitchen because it used to house Harvest Restaurant (the restaurant closed in 2019).

Brewery news USA, WI: Brewfinity Brewing Co. planning second brewery in Pewaukee
Brewfinity Brewing Co. plans to open a second brewery and taproom in Pewaukee next spring. The new location will be at 203 W. Wisconsin Ave., in the space previously occupied by the VeloCity bicycle shop right across from Lakefront Park, GMToday.com reported on November 13.

"Brewfinity has been looking to add a second location for the last several years, everything from building a new facility to buying an existing venue to renting space and doing a buildout. We have finally found a location we are excited about as it fits into our model and is financially feasible to pursue," said owner Chad Ostram of Brewfinity Brewing.

Brewfinity Brewing plans to operate a one-barrel brewhouse at the site, and offer a variety of beer and food including brisket sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, and other smoked meat options.

"When we looked at the surrounding area, we realized there was a niche in doing smoked meats, so we decided that would be our focus for the kitchen," said Ostram.

Brewfinity Brewing operates a brewery and taproom at N58-W39800 Industrial Road on the far west side of Oconomowoc, which has been in operation for eight years.

Brewery news USA, LA: Cypress Coast Brewing planning expansion in Baton Rouge
Cypress Coast Brewing has been at the Government Street location for the last four years. Now, if the parish approves its plans, the microbrewery will take over the vacant lot behind Mid City Car Wash, WBRZ reported on November 12.

Cypress Coast Brewing is looking to rezone to accompany larger crowds and allow more families into the space.

"It gives us the option to have kids, which a lot of laws have changed since we opened in 2020. It also gives the ability to self distribute that wasn't an option when we first did this," owner Justin Meyers said.

Meyers said the brewery opened its doors in the peak of COVID and has spent the past four years getting established in Mid-City, now that the company plans to expand the owners have realized the small lot isn't enough space.

"I think the biggest thing is we ran out of room, when we did this initially we wanted to start small and kind of grow. Some things have happened that have allowed us to take some space next to us. That gives us the ability to have more people inside, more events, things of that nature," Meyers said.

The addition will allow more outdoor ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, NJ: Ashton Brewing Company closing its doors after nearly fiver years in business
Nearly five years after opening in the former home of another brewery, Ashton Brewing Company is closing its doors in Middlesex, MyCentralJersey.com reported on November 12.

The brewery that focused on balanced, drinkable beers at the former location of Demented Brewing Company is closing by the end of the year, or when its remaining beer runs out.

The landlord of the space is already in talks with potential restaurant and brewery owners.

“Starting out right when COVID hit brought us our first challenge, but now rising costs, a flooded market including out-of-state breweries and a rapid increase in new breweries within the time we opened has made it impossible to sustain our business,” co-owners and husband-and-wife Steve and Donna Ashton posted on the brewery’s Facebook page.

“Our focus has always been about the beer, and not the spectacle, but in the end, the industry changed and that became a broader focus," the post continued.

Despite the impending closure, Ashton Brewing Company will release seven more beers this year, including one every Friday until Black Friday, when four of them will be on tap.

Those four will be variations of an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels, such as the Hunter’s Moon pumpkin spice and coffee stout ...More info on site

Brewery news Malaysia: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia invests in capacity expansion and optimisation of energy usage
Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd has invested RM200 million to upgrade to its bottling and canning lines alongside high-precision filtration systems, The Edge Malaysia reported on November 13.

On top of that, the brewery spent over RM143 million on energy-efficient and resource-optimising production technologies, as well as workplace safety upgrades, its managing director Stefano Clini showcased the newly upgraded facilities.

The upgrades on the canning line, according to him, are expected to result in an increase of 33% to its production capacity, reduction of water waste by 47%, and a cut in energy consumption by 42%, according to Carlsberg Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the bottling line is expected to reduce water usage by 14% and energy usage by 21% with the upgrades.

For its beer filtration plant, the upgrades are expected to result in enhanced production capability of 33%, reducing water wastage by 18%, and a complete 100% improvement in energy savings.

Speaking to the media, Clini highlighted that the new lines have already resulted in improved production speed and capacity, allowing the company to better meet demand, especially during peak periods like Chinese New Year, which will fall in January 2025.

The improved efficiency, the managing director added, also reduces the need for excessive stockpiling, which in turn ...More info on site

Barley news UK: Winter barley variety Buccaneer gains full approval for brewing
High-yielding winter barley variety Buccaneer has gained full approval for brewing – a welcome addition to what was an otherwise limited approved malting variety list, Farmers Weekly reported on November 13.

Buccaneer now joins Craft, Electrum and Flagon as Malting Barley Committee (MBC) approved winter malting barley varieties as the commitee gave the variety the green light at its autumn 2024 meeting.

Jonathan Arnold, barley buyer at Robin Appel, notes the approval of the two-row variety has arrived in good time.

“The winter barley area has slipped away – one of the reasons being that it is often grown as an entry for OSR and is omitted from the rotation when OSR is dropped.

“There has been significant breeding emphasis on feed varieties rather than malting, so it is a welcome addition for industry,” he says.

“With good premiums available I think this variety will certainly turn a few farmers’ heads.

“We’ve got a good commercial crop in the ground and demand for autumn 2025 is set to be strong.”

Buccaneer offers high yields with a good disease package.

It has a Recommended List untreated yield of 87%, and treated yield of 99%, putting it at the top of the table.

“The strong yield factor is critical for farmers ...More info on site

Brewery news World: Diageo launches new global ‘luxury assets’ division
Diageo has introduced a new global division to combine ‘luxury assets’ into one portfolio including brands such as Brora and Port Ellen, Drinks International reported on November 12.

The new division will be responsible for chartering luxury strategy and accelerating the growth of brands that retail at USD$100 and above, in partnership with its respective brand stewards globally.

Led by Julie Bramham, former global brand director of Johnnie Walker, existing colleagues within marketing, sales and commercial teams have been aligned under new strategy and leadership, as the Diageo Luxury Group aims to become “the number one luxury spirits company in the world”, the company said.

The Diageo Luxury Group will encompass Diageo’s 15 brand homes and distillery visitor experience, including Johnnie Walker Princes Street and wine business Justerini & Brooks.

It will also focus on key influential cities around the world, global travel and Great Britain's market.

Brewery news Russia: Baltika Brewing in talks to buy two large Russian beer maker
Baltika Brewing Company LLC is holding negotiations to buy two large breweries in Chuvashia and Tatarstan, Buket Chuvashii and Bulgarpivo, business daily Vedomosti reported on November 14, citing three sources familiar with the progress of the talks.

Baltika is interested in Buket Chuvashii primarily because it has its own malt production, one of the sources told the paper.

The deal is already in the approval process at the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).

The sources did not specify the price. Analysts estimate the two breweries are worth about 3 billion rubles, the paper said.

Baltika's press service declined to comment, and Buket Chuvashii, Bulgarpivo and the FAS did not respond to questions, Vedomosti said.

Buket Chuvashii, which opened in 1974, has capacity to produce over 80 million liters of beer annually. It also produces barley and rye malt, kvas and other products, and operates 22 stores under the Diky Los brand.

Bulgarpivo, which was founded in Naberezhnye Chelny in 1981, is the "largest brewery in the Kama region," according to its website. The brewery makes 40 types of products, including beer, kvas, nonalcoholic beverages, and mineral and drinking water, and has capacity to produce 130 million liters per year.

Brewery news Vietnam: Special consumption tax on alcoholic beverages requires careful study – economists
Further comprehensive and in-depth studies must be carried out to fully evaluate the impact of a proposed tax increase on alcoholic beverages, said participants at a conference to gather opinions and feedback on the proposed tax organised by the Vietnam Economic Association (VEA) in Hanoi on November 14.

Economists and industry experts said a balanced approach is required in implementing the changes to Vietnam's special consumption tax law, which will see tax double for alcoholic beverages from 2026 to 2030.

Professor Chu Van Lam, vice president of the VEA, said the industry has considered the tax hike as a pressing issue, garnering attention from all players in the industry and other related industries.

Lam said opponents of the tax hike are raising significant concerns, including the lack of a comprehensive study on how different tax rates will affect the industry in the short, medium and long term.

"Only after studying different scenarios can we determine the optimal approach to ensure the feasibility of our objectives," he said.

The VEA stressed the importance of treading slowly, given the current economic context, in order to improve public health and quality of life as well as the ability of businesses to adapt.

Brewery news UK: Kingfisher Ultra beer coming to the UK
Kingfisher Drinks is launching Kingfisher Ultra, its premium world beer (ABV 5%), in the UK, KamCity reported on November 11.

Kingfisher Ultra debuted in India fifteen years ago and is now one of the country’s fastest-growing beer brands, with a compound annual growth rate of 20% between 2021-2023. It is brewed with a six-step filtration process and no additives, giving the liquid a natural golden hue. A distinct and stylish clear glass bottle and unique pull-crown lid add a premium look and feel.

The company noted that consumers are generally drinking less but better these days, so Ultra responds to that need. In India, the brand has built its reputation on tapping into premium associations, such as sponsoring premium festivals, fashion shows, and other top end events, which typically attract more affluent consumers.

Andy Sunnucks, Senior Brand Manager at Kingfisher Drinks, said: “We are delighted to introduce Kingfisher Ultra to the UK market. Those who have been lucky enough to try it in India will know that it is the gold standard! In fact, since launching in its home market back in 2009, Kingfisher Ultra has taken India by storm, becoming a bedrock of premium occasions, so we’re excited to confirm that it’s ...More info on site
