Brewery news USA, AZ: Formation Brewing coming to Phoenix in early 2025
Formation Brewing is officially opening its doors in early 2025 to be found in the Roosevelt Row neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona Digital Free Press reported on December 27.

Found at 925 N 5th St., between Taco Chelo and Le Du Thai, Formation Brewing will offer a welcoming space for craft beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike.

“We’ve been inspired by the landscape of Arizona and the energy of Roosevelt Row and we can’t wait to join the amazing local businesses here,” shared Charlie Berger, brewery founder “Our experience is all about bringing the Phoenix community together over fantastic craft beer and delicious food, served in a one-of-a-kind, welcoming space that inspires connection and unity.”

The interior of the Formation Brewing taproom was intentionally built to encourage conversation and connection. Alongside a sunken conversation area, there will also be a beautiful patio space and a second-level, perfect for parties and events.

Brewery news USA, MA: Incandescent Brewing to move into former Hitchcock Brewing location in Bernardston
As Incandescent Brewing moves into the former Hitchcock Brewing Co. location on South Street in Bernardston, the reins will be passed from one husband-and-wife team to the next, Greenfield Recorder reported on December 26.

The new space will be bright and colorful while still offering craft beers and a community hangout spot, said Nate Perry, who owns Incandescent Brewing with his wife Mesi Charles-Perry. They have a goal to be open by the end of February 2025, pending necessary permit approval.

Perry began his journey into the world of beer in 2008, when he began homebrewing in Philadelphia. He said he loves to cook and found brewing beer to be a similar process that involves following the specific steps of a recipe while still getting to experiment and be creative.

“It’s a fun combination of art and science,” Perry said.

His homebrewing experience sparked an interest in turning beer into a career, and Perry has been working as a professional brewer for 12 years now. Perry said he has worked in breweries all over the country, but he dreamed of having his own business. He grew up in Conway and always wanted to return to the area to raise a family, so when he ...More info on site

Brewery news USA: Boston Beer amends production deal, cuts guidance
Boston Beer Company Inc cut its full-year GAAP earnings per share guidance to $3.80-$5.80, down from $5.50-$7.50, Yahoo Finance reported on December 20.

The company said it has amended its production agreement with Rauch North America to better align with its future capacity needs. The revised deal enhances production flexibility and grants Boston Beer improved termination rights.

As part of the agreement, Boston Beer will make a $26 million cash payment to Rauch by December 23, resulting in a pre-tax contract settlement expense of $26 million, or $1.70 per diluted share after tax, in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Non-GAAP EPS guidance remains unchanged at $8.00-$10.00.

Brewery news USA, CA: DarkHeart Brewing ready to open in Citrus Heights
DarkHeart Brewing is almost ready to open in Citrus Heights, Citrus Heights Sentinel reported on December 21.

The brewing company, which is preparing to open at Sylvan Corners next to the new Bear Paw Outlet store, posted on social media that the “wait has seemed eternal.” A Dec. 20 post indicated that the business is waiting for final clearance and anticipates fully opening on Monday, Dec. 23.

“No guarantees but looks good so far,” DarkHeart wrote on social media Friday. Earlier posts from a week prior indicated that the company was waiting on final approval from the fire department.

In past updates, the brewing business has shared photos of the interior of their new location, as well as photos of available merchandise and information on membership plans.

“We are at crunch time. Merch and gift cards are available…We will make arrangements to get you what you need to make this Christmas extra special,” the company wrote online.

The small business brewing company, owned by Rick and Cynthia Lee, was previously located in Sacramento for almost five years according to their website, and was unexpectedly forced to close “due to circumstances beyond their control.”

Brewery news Canada, BC: Kelowna Brewing Company ceases operations after five years in business
Another Kelowna brewery is throwing in the towel, Castanet reported on December 23.

Kelowna Brewing Company, located at 975 Academy Way near UBC Okanagan, has quietly shut its doors, just over five years after it opened in June 2019.

The closure came as a surprise to one regular who posted on a Kelowna rant and rave Facebook group: “Rant to Kelowna Brewing Company closing for business with zero notice. I would have gone today if I had known,” she wrote.

Rising costs and changing consumer habits have taken a toll on the dining industry this year.

A staff member who happened to be outside Kelowna Brewing Company when Castanet stopped by Sunday said their input costs had risen significantly, noting that grain prices have skyrocketed.

Earlier this month, Vice and Virtue Brewing Co. on Richter Street announced that it too was closing.

"We are deeply grateful to our patrons, our industry colleagues, and our neighbouring businesses for the support," Vice and Virtue said in a social media post earlier this month.

"We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible staff, past and present, whose dedication, passion, and hard work helped shape Vice and Virtue. Thank you, sincerely, for being the heart and soul of ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, OK: Crossed Cannons Brewery serves its final pint
Crossed Cannons Brewery, 333 W Boyd St., Suite 120 in Norman, has served its final pint, The Oklahoman reported on December 23.

The veteran-owned brewery, located in Campus Corner, announced the closure just before Thanksgiving and had its final night of business Saturday.

The owners took to Facebook after closing for the final time to thank patrons for their support along the way.

"We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you," the post read in part. "Your support has meant the world to us — thank you for being part of this incredible experience. While our business may be closing, the memories we’ve created together will remain with us always. We’ll forever be grateful for the trust and loyalty you’ve shown us."

The brewery called the Campus Corner location home for four and a half years, hosting University of Oklahoma football gameday events, bingo nights, running groups and more.

Brewery news USA, IN: Scarlet Lane Brewing Co. announces its final day on New Year’s Eve
A combination of factors has led to the closing of a McCordsville brewing company, with the final day on New Year’s Eve, Wish-TV reported on December 26.

Scarlet Lane Brewing Co., located on Depot Street just northwest of West Broadway beyond the railroad tracks, opened in September 2014, according to information on its Facebook page.

Scarlet Lane’s Beech Grove facility closed last week, and it’s listed as “temporarily closed” online.

Eilise Lane, the owner, operator and head brewer, said in a social media post on Thursday that interest has been expressed in the 4-acre site and its buildings and equipment in McCordsville. Lane said health changes, building needs, and the overall market led to the Scarlet Lane Brewing (SLB) team’s decision to sell.

Lane wrote, “We will get more sentimental in our posts as we get closer to our final service, but we want you to know that McCordsville means so much to me and the SLB team that I can’t put it all into words. Being a part of the town’s explosive growth over the last 10+ years has been extraordinary and makes my heart happy that we contributed to the town’s next chapter.”

The McCordsville building also contains Trax BBQ. The barbecue restaurant, ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, TX: Vista Brewing to close its San Antonio tap room
Another brewery in San Antonio has decided to close its doors, KSAT reported on December 20.

Vista Brewing, located at 125 Lamar Street, announced on December 20 that the brewery would close in 2025 through a social media post.

“It is with a heavy heart that we are making the tough decision to wind down Vista Brewing’s San Antonio tap room,” the post stated, in part.

Vista Brewing was open for three and a half years as an all-day café and tap room.

The brewery said, “It is just not the right time for Vista.”

The brewery said its weekly specials and happy hours will continue unchanged until the final day of service on Jan. 5, 2025, according to the brewery.

The Vista Brewing’s headquarters, which is located just outside of Austin in Driftwood, will stay open.

“We encourage you all to regularly visit and support San Antonio craft breweries and independently owned restaurants, as well as Vista’s headquarters at the Driftwood ranch and brewery,” the post stated.

Brewery news USA, SD: Hill City’s Prairie Berry Winery and Miner Brewing Company closes its doors
After 25 years of business, Prairie Berry Winery and Miner Brewing Company closed their doors on Sunday, December 22, KotaTV reported.

Many made their way to Hill City to enjoy their last beer and wine at the location.

While Miner Brewing Company will be completely closed after Sunday Prairie Berry Winery will still be open exclusively for carry-out through the end of the year.

The company declined to make a comment about closing but they did say they will continue to have wine releases exclusively on their website.

Brewery news USA, TX: Neches Brewing Company to close at the end of the month
Neches Brewing Company will be closing at the end of the month, MSN reported on December 19.

After eight years of "celebrating beer and making memories" Neches Brewing Company will close for good on Dec. 31, Neches Brewing Company announced on Facebook Wednesday morning.

Mug Club members have been unsubscribed and are asked to come take their mugs home, Neches Brewing Company announced.

"We’d like to thank everyone who came through our doors and we hope our little brewery was something that made you feel at home. Cheers!" Neches Brewing Company said in their announcement.

The announcement comes after a former employee of the brewery, which is Southeast Texas' first, in September started a GoFundMe page in the hopes that the establishment would be able to remain open.

Despite raising more than its goal, the brewery will still close.

Neches Brewing Company owner Tyler Blount previously told the Enterprise that they had been experiencing a downturn in business amid rising costs that was eating away at the brewery's bottom line. He declined to speak further on Wednesday.

“Nobody’s going to pay $10 for a beer,” he previously told the Enterprise, but that’s almost what he would need to charge to keep expenses from handily outweighing revenue.

Blount previously ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, GA: Best End Brewing to serve its final pint on January 1st
Best End Brewing in Atlanta will serve its final pint on Wednesday, January 1st, joining other local businesses that have closed. The West End brewery has announced a closing celebration but has not revealed the reasons behind the decision, as per a FOX 5 Atlanta report.

Best End Brewing, located in the Lee + White development, opened just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite converting a former warehouse into a German-style beer hall, the owners were unable to find a buyer to save the business, according to co-owner Rob Hayes in a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Atlanta's Lee + White district will lose Best End's communal tables, Chef Cory Burke's menu of pub and Southern brunch favorites, and Tim Schiavone's rotating craft beers. The brewery will host its Community Farewell Bash this Saturday.

The Creamy Spot, a vegan ice cream pop-up at the brewery, faces displacement as its move to a shipping container near the Beltline has been delayed. Meanwhile, the Lee + White district, once a growing hub for culinary and brewing businesses, continues to experience closures, including Torched Hop Brewing and Steady Hand Beer Co.

The closure of Best End Brewing highlights a troubling trend for the West End and greater Atlanta ...More info on site

Brewery news South Korea: Japanese beer sales soar in South Korea
According to data from South Korea's Export and Import Logistics Statistical System published on the 24th of December, the import volume of Japanese beer this year until October reached 76,700 tonnes. Considering that alcohol consumption typically increases in the fourth quarter, the import volume of Japanese beer this year is expected to surpass the 80,000 tonnes of 2017 and approach the record high of 86,700 tonnes in 2018, Chosunbiz reported.

During the same period, 21,100 tonnes of Chinese beer entered South Korea. This figure is less than half compared to before the pandemic. Chinese beer peaked in 2019, with an import volume more than double the current figure at 58,200 tonnes. In contrast, even considering end-of-year amounts this year, it seems difficult to exceed 25,000 tonnes.

Just ten years ago, Japanese beer was so strong in South Korea’s market that for every bottle of Chinese beer sold, three bottles of Japanese beer were sold.

However, starting in the mid-2010s, Chinese beer gradually began to increase its market share in South Korea. By 2017, for every three bottles of Japanese beer sold, two bottles of Chinese beer were also sold.

This coincides with the period when specialty lamb skewers began to increase in South Korea. ...More info on site

Brewery news The Philippines: Crazy Carabao and the rise of craft beer in the Philippines
In recent years, the Philippines has witnessed a remarkable transformation in its beverage industry, particularly in the craft beer sector. Once dominated by a handful of commercial giants, the beer landscape in the country is now flourishing with innovative brewers dedicated to quality and unique flavors, Hoodline reported on December 27.

This burgeoning craft beer revolution is driven by a growing community of enthusiasts and entrepreneurs who are passionate about redefining what beer can be. Among these trailblazers is Crazy Carabao, a standout in the industry, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the local craft beer scene.

Founder Brad Hannam shares the story of their inception, the challenges faced, and the triumphs achieved in this burgeoning industry.

The spark that ignited Crazy Carabao’s journey came from an unexpected source—Manny Pacquiao fights in Las Vegas. Brad reminisces, “When I was going to watch Manny Pacquiao fights in Las Vegas with a group of buddies, we saw such a massive craft beer market in the US, which didn’t exist in the Philippines, so we came up with a plan to build our own brewery and make our own craft beer.”
