Brewery news USA, MA & NY: Hendler Family Brewing to gain majority stake in Hudson Valley’s Sloop Brewery
Massachusetts-based Hendler Family Brewing has signed a partnership deal to gain a majority share of Hudson Valley’s Sloop Brewery, The Drinks Business reported on July 14.

The “strategic partnership” agreement will see Hendler Family Brewing take over most of Sloop Brewery’s beer production and will also see it take on sales and marketing responsibilities for the business.

As part of the deal, the majority of Sloop Brewery’s flagship beer, Juice Bomb, will be made by Hendler Family Brewing in Hopewell Junction while Sloop Brewery will continue to operate its main production facility and taproom to serve Hudson Valley locals.

Speaking about the deal, Hendler Family Brewing Company co-founder Sam Hendler said: “In partnership with Sloop Brewing Company, we are dedicated to preserving the beloved quality and integrity of Sloop Juice Bomb that consumers expect.”

Sloop Brewing co-founder Adam Watson explained: “Both HFBC and Sloop’s areas of expertise and strength are complementary, allowing us both to excel and retain the integrity of our shared portfolio and joint mission of expanding the independent craft beer market share in regional markets and beyond.”

Additionally, Watson added that Sloop’s mission has always been to be “community-driven, make good beer, and have fun while doing it” and pointed out that ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, PA: Ranch City Brewing planning soft opening in Easton this week
Easton’s newest craft brewery opens this week in the heart of the Simon Silk Mill complex, lehighvalley.com reported on July 15.

And in Bethlehem, a full-time restaurant — it’s called 3 Broke Blokes Grille — is returning to Lost Tavern Brewing.

Ranch City Brewing at the Silk Mill, North 13th Street and Simon Boulevard, plans soft openings on Thursday, July 17 and Friday this week “to help us fine-tune the Ranch City Brewing experience,” according to the brewery’s Facebook page. The grand opening runs almost all day Saturday.

“Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for a fun night out, we’d love to raise a glass with you,” the brewery website says.

Ranch City takes the place of Böser Geist, a brewery in business from 2017 to 2024.

Owners and lifelong friends A.J. Mitchell and Kyle Randell wanted to create a place “where the heart of the ranch meets the pulse of the city in every brew,” their website says. They are running the brewery with master brewer Dan O’Leary.

The initial beer menu features a German Pilsner, two IPAs, two lagers, a sour, a cream ale and an Irish stout, all brewed in house. The beer menu is complemented by a handful of ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, NJ: Magnify Brewing to hold grand opening on July 19
South Jersey has a new brewery, with their grand opening on Saturday, July 19, in Medford, with a soft opening this week, 973espn.com reported.

The new spot, Magnify Brewing, is located at 17 N Main St in Medford, which is their second New Jersey location, with their original brewery and tap room in Fairfield, NJ.

The new spot has an amazing tap room, an outside beer garden, and plenty of production space to increase their capacity.

Brewery news USA, CO: Brewers tap into new strategies to stay afloat
More breweries, taprooms, and pubs closed last year than new ones opened in the state, and Southern Colorado was no exception, Fox21News reported on July 9.

50 breweries closed their doors in 2024, but the Colorado Brewers Guild reports the number isn’t entirely accurate because many of the pubs that closed were bought out by an existing business. Taking a closer look at Colorado Springs, it’s been a rough few months.

In May, beer fans mourned the closure of Metric Brewing. Shortly after, 1350 distilling closed on June 8. The following day, Brass Brewing Co. announced that its 7-year-old downtown operation had been sold to a new startup, Gunslinger Brewing.

Atrevida Beer Company, located off North Nevada Avenue, has been fighting strong since 2018, and the proud owners say it’s all about diversifying.

Jess and Rich Fierro, the owners of Atrevida, have decided to change their hours to keep those pints full. They are now closed Monday through Wednesday and open Thursday through Sunday.

“It allows us to focus on the beers, get our back of the house an opportunity to work a little bit more on some of the things that they haven’t had the opportunity to do when you’re open seven days a ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, MT: Bonsai Brewing Project changes ownership
The last day of June was also the last day that Keela Smith and Graham Hart were owners of Bonsai Brewing Project, the business they started in Whitefish over 12 years, Whitefish Pilot reported on July 9.

The beloved brew pub opened at a funky location in the Mountain Mall before moving to its current location on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Denver Street. The quality beers and freshly prepared food, along with the large yard and welcoming atmosphere, made Bonsai a favorite of locals and tourists over the years.

“For us, it felt like the right time to move on and do something different,” said Smith. “I think rather than us lose our heart in it and just let it falter because we're not putting the care into it, we [thought] it's time to let someone else take the torch and put some care into it.”

Smith and Hart were born and raised in Whitefish and currently live in Columbia Falls. They have no plans to leave the area.

“We're going to stay around. Both of our families are still here,” Smith said. “I don't know what we're going to do next, to be honest. I want to ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, NJ: Buttzville Brewing Company to pour its last pints by the end of July
The owners of Buttzville Brewing Company announced they’ll be pouring final pints in Washington at the end of the month, Lehighvalleylive.com reported on July 11.

The brewery, which opened its doors at 30 E. Washington Ave. in 2021, is expected to close on Sunday, July 27 or “whenever we run out of beer,” said owners Dave and Erin Anderson.

The couple introduced themselves and the Buttzville Brewing Company to the world via Facebook in 2019 after being approached by Hackettstown to turn their quirky homebrew fan page into a formal brick-and-mortar biergarten.

It was a volatile time for hospitality businesses, but they took the initiative and pushed for two long years to open the brewhouse. The business persevered through every challenge presented in the past five years, through the Covid-19 pandemic, skyrocketing material costs to renovate the space, unpredictable economic headwinds and bizarre state regulations on how craft breweries sell their products, they said.

Craft beer companies only recently received a major legal win last year, easing some restrictions and allowing them to expand the number of off-premise events they can vend at to 25 per year, but it was too little too late for many craft breweries.

“No one thing put us where we ...More info on site

Brewery news World: Debra Crew leaves Diageo after tough two years
The chief executive of Diageo has left by "mutual agreement" after a tough two years at the helm of the FTSE 100 drinks firm, MSN reported on July 16.

Debra Crew, who took over in the summer of 2023 following the sudden death of long-time boss Sir Ivan Menezes, had come under pressure from investors over performance.

Shares in the maker of Johnnie Walker whisky and Guinness stout, during her time in charge, had plunged by more than 40%.

They gained more than 3%, and were leading the FTSE 100, when the Financial Times first reported that her departure was imminent.

It was later confirmed by the company, which gave no reasons for the move.

Diageo only said that it was sticking to its forecasts for this year and next and that Ms Crew would be replaced, on an interim basis, by chief financial officer Nik Jhangiani.

The share price, which has outperformed rivals despite its struggles, reflects the post pandemic decline in people drinking at home.

Some analysts have suggested that she did not convince shareholders over Diageo's strategy in the wake of this shift, with a turnaround plan revealed in May, which aimed to slash costs, seen as failing to go far in enough.

Some investors ...More info on site

Barley news UK: UK’s grain harvest off to the fastest start since 2006 due to hot weather
Long dry spells in the spring and recent hot temperatures mean that harvest is off to the fastest start since at least 2006 (earliest available harvest report) in the UK, with multiple reports of winter barley being cut in June, AHDB reported on July 14.

The first harvest report of the 2025/26 season has been released, covering the beginning of harvest up to 9 July 2025.

Produced with data collected by The Andersons Centre and compiled by AHDB, the report is based on a sample survey of farmers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and will provide figures on harvest progress throughout the harvest season.

Due to a band of heavy rainfall during the weekend of 5–6 July, there was a slight pause in combining, though harvest pace has since picked up.

Winter barley harvest is progressing rapidly, owing to the dry weather either side of 5–6 July.

However, progress is highly variable both within and between regions.

Overall, it is estimated that 10% of the UK winter barley area was harvested by 9 July 2025.

This is ahead of the same time last year when harvest was 7% complete, and the five-year average of 6% complete at this point in the season.

Whisky news South Korea: HiteJinro to introduce premium Japanese whiskey "Fuji" series in South Korea
HiteJinro announced on the 14th that it will introduce the premium Japanese whiskey "Fuji" series of four types for the first time in Korea. With this, it has completed a total lineup of six types, following the previous import of "Fuji Sanroku Signature Blend" and "Fuji Single Malt Whiskey" last year, ChosunBiz.en reported on July 14.

According to HiteJinro on that day, the products being introduced this time are "Fuji Blended," "Fuji Single Blended," "Fuji Single Grain," and "Fuji Single Malt 17 Years."

The Gotemba distillery, which produces the Fuji series, was established by the Kirin Group in 1973. Located in the forests of Mount Fuji, it uses clear and soft water that has undergone a long natural purification process. It is a place where malt whiskey (made primarily from barley malt) and grain whiskey (made primarily from grains other than barley) in the styles of the United States, Canada, and Scotland can be produced simultaneously at a single distillery.

Fuji Blended is a limited edition aimed at the European and American markets. It is characterized by fruity aromas such as European pear, sweet flavors of red fruits, and a refreshing note of wood. Fuji Single Blended is the standard of blended whiskey ...More info on site
