India: Gen Z consumers spend more on premium drinks even if volumes are lower, Diageo India CEO says
|
Diageo India chief executive Praveen Someshwar said Gen Z consumers are not cutting back on social occasions but are shifting to premium formats, resulting in higher value per outing even if volumes are lower, Times of India reported on September 4.
“Gen Z are not consuming less. They are consuming different formats, cocktails and ready to drink. They consume less in volume but more premium,” he said during a joint media interaction.
Someshwar said the company continues to orient brand building around occasions rather than demographics, with weddings cited as an example of multiple use cases that range from intimate family connects to larger reception settings.
“Socialising and connects continue to grow. It just finds different forms,” he said, adding that at-home gatherings, pubs, concerts and even concurrent streaming have become meaningful “connect” moments.
On the outlook, Someshwar reiterated the premium and above guidance. “Our guidance has been double digit P&A growth. We see that comfortably coming through,” he said. He added that margins have expanded over the last five years and that the company is cash positive, with cash being reinvested into brands, innovation and people.
“Innovation is the single biggest investment. People are the second area of investment,” he said.

USA, GA: AB InBev making major investment in Cartersville brewery
|
Anheuser-Busch is making a major investment in metro Atlanta, Atlanta News First reported on September 8.
The beer giant is pouring $9.2 million into its Cartersville brewery.
The investment will go toward upgrading equipment to fuel increased production of beers, including Michelob Ultra, which the company said is the No. 1 fastest-growing beer brand in the U.S. and the No. 1 beer in Georgia.
Anheuser-Busch said the investment will bring more high-quality products to customers while supporting the Bartow County community.
The Cartersville brewery opened in 1993 and makes 48 different products shipped across 32 states. Since 2020, Anheuser-Busch has invested more than $230 million in the brewery, which is part of the nearly $2 billion it’s invested in its 100 U.S. facilities over the past five years, the company said in a press release Monday.
The upgrades are also part of the company’s $300 million investment in its facilities in 2025 to create and sustain American manufacturing jobs, the company said.

UK: Gen Z beer drinkers showing increased interest in cask ale
|
The number of Gen Z beer drinkers that regularly order cask ale has increased by 50% compared with last year, new data has revealed, Food Manufacture reported on September 8.
A YouGov survey commissioned by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA) found that 25% of 18 to 24-year-old beer drinkers regularly order cask ale at the pub.
This represents an increase of more than 50% on the previous year. YouGov surveyed 2,250 UK consumers in February 2025 to assess their views on the craft beer market and find out more about their beer drinking habits.
Cask Ale Week, which runs from 18 to 28 September 2025, is aiming to tempt Brits back into the habit of visiting their local pub, as well as to support sales of cask beer.
Ash Corbett-Collins, national chairman of cask ale consumer champion CAMRA, said: “Younger drinkers, Generation Z, are already more likely to use pubs than many older Brits. Many people got out of the pub-going habit during lockdown, and in tough times economically, too many have stayed away, causing real problems for many pubs and brewers.
“For some, the initial appeal is undoubtedly the fact that cask ale is often the best value

South Korea: HiteJinro announces launch of a new premium edition beer
|
HiteJinro announced that it will launch a premium limited edition beer called 'Terra Single Malt Edition' on the 8th of September, ChosunBiz reported.
The Terra Single Malt Edition was released for the fourth consecutive year under the concept of 'a lager beer that can be encountered only once a year.' It uses 100% barley and hops grown on Tasmania, which is known for its pristine environment, with 40% of the island designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The brewing process was conducted in collaboration with the local brewery 'Joe-White Maltings,' which boasts over 100 years of tradition, utilizing the Tasmanian single variety 'ELLA hops' to create a soft and fragrant floral aroma. In particular, consumers can verify the entire process from 'barley-malt-beer' through the QR code embedded in the packaging.
This year, HiteJinro maximized the value of the limited edition through a packaging collaboration with the popular character DinoTaeng, which IPX (formerly LINE Friends) is currently developing in its IP business. As the previously introduced 'Terra|DinoTaeng Ice Bag' collaboration received a great response from consumers, HiteJinro noted that a positive reaction is anticipated for this collaboration as well. The Terra Single Malt Edition will be available in two types of cans,

Brazil: Heineken and Ambev raise beer prices
|
According to the new "LatAm Beverages" report by Bank of America, Heineken and Ambev implemented price adjustments in July, ranging from 3.3 to 6.1 percent, FreshlyBottled.com reported on September 2.
The financial institution's analysis, which surveyed 19 brands at 1,500 points of sale across Brazil, indicates that the largest increase came from the Heineken Group. Its prices increased by an average of 6.1 percent, with the exception of Devassa, which registered a 24 percent increase. Ambev, for its part, applied a more moderate adjustment of 3.3 percent, although its average price today is 2 percent higher than in May, after having reduced its prices in June.
Among the most relevant brands, Heineken Lager increased 3.4 percent between June and August, a move that led Ambev to respond with increases in Corona and Stella Artois. In the premium segment, other brands recorded increases as well: Amstel increased by 7.5 percent, while Budweiser registered variations between 10 and 13 percent. Spaten showed milder adjustments, between 1 and 3 percent.
