Brewery news USA: Analysts remain cautious on outlook for US alcoholic beverage stocks
JPMorgan analysts remain cautious on the outlook for U.S. alcoholic beverage stocks, citing ongoing uncertainty over whether the current consumption slowdown is cyclical or structural, Yahoo! Finance reported on November 7.

In a note to clients, the bank said it has assumed lead coverage of Constellation Brands, Molson Coors, and Brown-Forman, maintaining Neutral ratings on the first two and an Underweight on the latter.

“We remain cautious overall on the consumption environment for alcohol in the U.S. with limited visibility to return to historical trend across beer, wine, and spirits,” JPMorgan analyst Drew Levine wrote.

“The key debate in the sector is whether consumption softness is structural or cyclical,” he added.

While company managements see the slowdown as cyclical, JPMorgan noted that “most investors [are] leaning more into the ‘structural’ side of the argument,” pointing to factors such as health and wellness trends, younger consumers drinking less, and emerging risks from GLP-1 drugs and hemp-derived beverages.

“Coming up on two-plus years of well below trend growth, it’s hard to ignore some structural underpinnings to the slowdown,” the firm stated.

Levine added that while companies are pushing into adjacencies like non-alcoholic beer and ready-to-drink cocktails, “innovation is typically not a core competency of large incumbents.”

Brewery news Canada, ON: Northern Maverick Brewing shuts down for the second time in a year
A downtown Toronto brewery has seemingly closed after a notice of termination appeared on its front door, but this isn't the first time they've been in this situation, blogTO reported on November 4.

Once a go-to spot for gameday beers and bites among friends, King West's Northern Maverick has had quite the rollercoaster year.

The sprawling craft brewery with a bottle shop attached first landed in 2017 to much fanfare, both thanks to its enormous 11,000 sq. ft. space and its selection of house-made brews. It was an instant hit.

It wasn't until 2024 (save for a little, itty-bitty pandemic in the middle) that things started getting bumpy.

Fans of the brewpub were shocked to find that Northern Maverick had seemingly closed down in the latter half of the year, without notice or explanation. The Bathurst and Adelaide brewpub and bottle shop sat empty and dark for months as regulars were forced to assume it was gone for good.

Exactly a year ago, you wouldn't have been able to score a table at Northern Maverick, not because of popularity-induced scarcity (a once-real possibility at the brewery), but because it was locked up, lights off.

Come spring of 2025, though, Northern Maverick was back up and running, ...More info on site

Brewery news India: Deb-ridden brewer B9 Beverages pitches asset sale
Debt-ridden craft beer maker B9 Beverages founder Ankur Jain informed employees on November 6 that he has found a buyer for one of the company's assets that would help to inject "immediate cash" into the company for clearing pending salaries and provident fund dues, the Economic Times reported.

"We have sent the proposal to key lenders and shareholders yesterday...and hopeful of timely consent," Jain said in a letter to the employees, a copy of which was seen by ET.

Jain confirmed sending the letter but declined to identify that asset that is being planned for sale. "The company has identified various avenues to resolve dues for employees and recovery of business including sale of certain non-core assets," he told ET.

Key shareholders and lenders of the maker of craft beer brand Bira 91 include Japan's Kirin Holdings, Anicut Capital and Peak XV.

However, two senior executives at the investing firms questioned the proposed asset sale. "We don't even know who the buyer is...is there a firm offer ...More info on site
