France: AB InBev France announces new managing director
|
Stefaan Deroost, retail director at AB InBev in Belgium, is transferring to France with immediate effect, where he will take up the role of managing director. Pieter Laurens will succeed him as retail director for Belgium, Retail Detail reported on February 3.
Stefaan Deroost has been with AB InBev for more than eleven years and played a key role in developing the commercial strategy in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. He was commercial director in France between 2021 and 2023 and has been responsible for Belgian retail activities for the past two years, achieving strong market performance and further strengthening partnerships with supermarkets, according to the press release. In France, he succeeds his compatriot Pieter Anciaux.
In Belgium, Pieter Laurens will succeed Stefaan Deroost as retail director on February 1. Laurens started his career at AB InBev in 2015 as a commercial management trainee and has since gained extensive experience within the Belgian organization, with positions in trade marketing and sales, among others.

Heineken has halted production at its Ponta Grossa plant in Paraná state after an accident on the BR-376 highway resulted in a lysoguma leak, raising concerns about the Tibagi River, the main source of water used by the operation, Click Petroleo e Gas reported.
The shutdown was announced on February 5, 2026, while technicians assess whether there has been a significant environmental impact.
The case exposes a sensitive point for the industry: When industrial water depends on a strategic river, any suspicion of contamination becomes an operational, reputational, and economic risk. Beyond monitoring the Tibagi River, reports, emergency protocols, and pressure for transparency come into play, because the regional supply chain feels the effects even before a resumption date is set.
The event began with a collision between two semi-trucks on BR-376, at km 509, on February 3, 2026.
The incident resulted in a spill of lysoguma, described as a vegetable oil derivative that can be classified as hazardous waste when improperly disposed of, requiring containment and monitoring; one of the drivers suffered a broken leg and received medical attention.

Beer giant Heineken is doubling down on the fast-growing non-alcoholic market, unveiling two new fruit-forward flavors under its Heineken 0.0 label as the company seeks to capture consumers who want the taste of beer without the alcohol, Cleveland.com reported on February 5.
The company said it is introducing Cold Pressed Lime and Nectarine Juniper, marking its first move into flavored, alcohol-free beers. Both drinks are brewed twice to remove alcohol and then blended with the same base recipe used in Heineken 0.0.
According to Heineken, the launch comes as more Americans moderate their alcohol intake. Company research cited by Heineken found 81% of U.S. consumers say they now choose non-alcoholic options in social situations.
