USA, PA: RiverTide Brewing to host grand opening in Morrisville on February 20
|
Bucks County’s newest brewery is set to open this weekend, PhillyBurbs reported on February 20.
After several months of preparation, RiverTide Brewing on East Bridge Street in downtown Morrisville, will be hosting its grand opening on Friday, Feb. 20.
“It’s an expression of all our personalities, and everything we’ve done with our lives leading up to this point culminates into the food, the beer and the vibe,” said Rob Staples, who with his childhood friends, Frank Brill and Ken Terry, had a shared goal of creating an inviting place where friends and families can enjoy good food and drinks together.
Staples said the three of them with help from their friends, family and local brewing community, worked over the past several months to redesign the space, brew their first round of beer releases and perfect their recipes.
“We’ve relied a lot on our friends and the community’s support, and all that positivity has been really refreshing along the way. We’re just relieved it’s finally happening and excited for them all to see the hard work come together,” he said.
Staples said the entire space was redone in an effort to give it an unpretentious and welcoming feel, using colors that reminded them of mornings on

USA, MI: Next Quest Brewing one step closer to opening its doors in Bay City
|
The Bay City commission approved a manufacturer license this week for Next Quest Brewing, bringing the medieval-themed business one step closer to opening its doors at 900 6th St., MLive.com reported on February 19.
Zeke Carlyon, who owns the business with his wife Stephanie, has also applied for a liquor license for the planned restaurant and microbrewery, according to city records. The property currently carries residential zoning, where bars, restaurants, and lounges are typically prohibited. However, Carlyon previously secured a use variance from the city to move forward with the project.
Outdoor service will not be permitted despite being included in Carlyon’s liquor license application. The city determined this feature cannot be approved because it was not part of his original variance request.
The Carlyons are converting a former First Congregational Church building into their brewing operation. Zeke Carlyon previously said the church structure offers practical advantages for their concept.
The owners intend to transform the space away from its religious origins, creating a castle-like atmosphere with painted stone walls. Plans include placing medieval video games on the balcony and potentially installing an escape room on either floor of the building.
Next Quest Brewing is also considering programming beyond typical brewery offerings, including yoga sessions

USA, CO: Left Hand Brewing absorbs fellow Longmont company Bootstrap Brewing
|
Colorado’s wave of craft beer consolidation continued on February 18 as Left Hand Brewing announced that fellow Longmont company Bootstrap Brewing would join its Left Hand Collective entity.
“The transaction will result in Bootstrap’s owners acquiring equity in the Collective’s parent company, Indian Peaks Brewing Company,” Left Hand said in a statement. “Bootstrap will gradually move production to Left Hand Brewing’s state-of-the-art facility and will continue to operate their Longmont taproom with a full line-up of craft beer and music.”
Bootstrap, which is known for award-winning hoppy beers like Insane Rush IPA and Wreak Havoc Imperial Red, was founded in Niwot in 2012 by Leslie and Steve Kaczeus, before moving and expanding to Longmont five years later. There it began canning and distributing its beer more widely, and eventually gained an investment from Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis.
“This relationship will help us grow our brand by leveraging Left Hand’s larger distribution footprint and sales and marketing team,” Leslie Kaczeus said in a statement.
In April 2025, Left Hand absorbed Aurora’s Dry Dock Brewing in a move that was partially funded by a Wefunder public share offering and a Regulation D sale. At the time, it had raised more than $2 million in an

Canada, NS: 2 Crows Brewing to close its doors on March 8
|
2 Crows Brewing says it’s closing its doors after nearly a decade in business in Halifax, CTV News reported on February 19.
In a social media post, the company, which opened in 2017, said they will officially shut down on March 8.
Since 2017, 2 Crows has been about more than beer - it’s been about community,” the post reads. “About creating a space where everyone feels welcome, included, and comfortable. It’s been an incredible ride, and we’re so grateful to our staff, customers, and the Nova Scotia craft beer community for every pint, laugh, and memory along the way.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of the 2 Crows family.”
2 Crows operates taprooms on Brunswick Street and Oxford Street.

USA, CA: Hotaling & Co. to close its San Francisco distillery at the end of the month
|
Hotaling & Co., the maker of Junipero gin and Old Potrero whiskey, will be closing its distillery located at Pier 50 in San Francisco at the end of the month, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on February 18.
The San Francisco-based company, formerly known as Anchor Distilling Co., separated from Anchor Brewing and Distilling when it was sold to Sapporo in 2017. (The brewery closed in 2023 and was purchased by Chobani yogurt billionaire Hamdi Ulukaya in 2024, but has not reopened.)
Hotaling confirmed that the entire distilling team was laid off, but declined to specify the number of employees affected.
“I will no longer be part of Junipero, Old Potrero or Hirsch after 2/27/26,” head distiller Kevin Aslan wrote on Instagram on Feb. 16. “Anchor Distilling/Hotaling gave me 15 incredible years and I am nothing but grateful to have represented these iconic brands for so long.”
Master distiller Bruce Joseph, who worked at Anchor for 45 years and created Old Potrero, retired last year.
The closure of Pier 50 means that Hotaling, which rebranded from Anchor Distilling after losing the rights to the trademark, is no longer in the distilling business. Old Potrero is currently distilled and aged by Corning & Co.

USA, PA: Tired Hands Brewing quietly closes two taproom locations
|
Tired Hands Brewing Company has quietly closed its Ardmore Brewing Company and Kennett Square taproom locations, with licenses for both facilities expiring in December 2025, according to Breweries in PA.
The Ardmore location, which opened in 2025 as a rebranded version of Tired Hands’ original BrewCafé, now shows as “Temporarily Closed” on Google and will only open for private events, according to the report.
The Kennett Square taproom appears to have closed permanently, with its Google listing showing “Permanently Closed” despite the brewery posting from that location’s Instagram page as recently as three weeks ago.
Ardmore Brewing Company had operated for approximately one year under Tired Hands ownership following the brewery’s 2021 workplace controversy, which included allegations of sexism and a toxic workplace culture, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. That led to founder Jean Broillet IV temporarily stepping away from daily operations before returning one year later.
Tired Hands has not publicly commented on either closure, and the company’s website still promotes three locations: their Fermentaria in Ardmore, St. Oners in Philadelphia, and a pop-up Biergarten in Mt. Airy scheduled to reopen in spring 2026.
The closures come amid a broader downturn in craft beer sales nationally, though the company has not confirmed whether the

Germany: Mannheim-based brewer Eichbaum to cut around 100 jobs in the coming months
|
The insolvent Mannheim-based brewery Eichbaum will cut around 100 jobs in the coming months, reducing its workforce by roughly one third. Currently employing just under 290 people, the company plans to reduce headcount to fewer than 200 in an effort to stabilize operations and attract investors.
Co-managing director Uwe Aichele described the step as painful but unavoidable, emphasizing that the downsizing is necessary to secure the remaining business. His fellow managing director, Frank Reifel, a restructuring specialist who joined the company in October as part of a turnaround management team, is leading ongoing discussions with potential buyers. According to Reifel, both financial investors and strategic investors have expressed interest. The formal insolvency proceedings were officially opened on January 1, 2026.
The works council, represented by Umut As, characterized the situation as a fight for survival. Due to persistent underutilization of brewing capacity, the company sees no alternative but to scale down in order to improve its appeal to investors. Employees were informed about the planned redundancies at a staff meeting at the end of January. Production staff is expected to be most affected, although administrative roles and technical personnel may also face cuts.
Eichbaum has struggled with declining volumes for some time, primarily

World: Diageo chief executive reportedly planning a major shake-up of executive team
|
New Diageo chief executive Dave Lewis is planning a major shake-up of his executive team, the Financial Times reported on February 20, citing people familiar with the matter.
Lewis is looking to replace several members of the company's 14-person executive committee, the report said, adding that he aims to push through a "wholesale change", likely stripping out entire layers of Diageo’s management.
Diageo declined to comment on the Financial Times report.
Diageo appointed former Tesco boss Lewis as CEO in November last year, turning to an outsider to revive growth at the world's largest spirits maker during a challenging period.
Lewis, who is known for fixing businesses through cost-cutting, earning the nickname "Drastic Dave", has been tasked with turning around the Johnnie Walker whisky and Guinness maker, which is grappling with tariff hikes in the US, its biggest market.

Kazakhstan & Russia: Russia emerges as leading beer supplier to Kazakhstan
|
Russia has emerged as the leading supplier of beer to Kazakhstan, with export volumes reaching a three-year high in monetary terms by the end of last year, CaspianPost.com reported on February 19.
The total value of Russian beer shipments to the country climbed to $33 million, marking a 36 per cent increase over the previous year. The last time exports approached similar levels was in 2022, when deliveries reached $38.3 million, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
The sharp growth has allowed Russia to secure a dominant 60 per cent share of Kazakhstan’s beer imports. Germany and Bulgaria also made the top three exporters, accounting for 8 per cent and around 5 per cent of imports respectively.
The surge in beer exports reflects a broader expansion of Russian food and beverage supplies to Kazakhstan. In 2025, Russian chocolate exports to the country jumped by 58 per cent, hitting a record $334.5 million. Russia subsequently became the top chocolate exporter to its neighbor, with Ukraine and the Czech Republic trailing far behind.
