Beijing Yanjing Brewery, a key beer subsidiary of Beijing Enterprises Holdings, reported solid growth for 2025, with revenue rising 4.54% to RMB15.33 billion and net profit attributable to shareholders surging 59.06% to RMB1.68 billion, TipRanks reported on April 15.

Total assets edged up to RMB23.75 billion while liabilities declined, strengthening the balance sheet and underscoring improved operational efficiency and profitability.

The brewery’s board has proposed a cash dividend of RMB2.00 for every 10 shares, signalling confidence in cash flow and a commitment to shareholder returns. Alongside its audited annual financials, the company released its sustainability report, updated board committee terms and AGM materials, reflecting an emphasis on governance, transparency and long‑term stakeholder engagement in a competitive Chinese beer market.

Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited is a Hong Kong–incorporated conglomerate with interests spanning utilities, consumer products and related services, and it controls Beijing Yanjing Brewery Co., Ltd., one of China’s major beer producers. Yanjing Brewery focuses on the mainland beer market, where it competes with other national and regional brewers across multiple price segments and distribution channels.

Brewery news USA: Brewers Association ranks the top 50 breweries in the US
The top 50 breweries in the US have been ranked by the Brewers Association in its annual report based on volume output for 2025.

Industry watchers often look at the movement of breweries up and down the list, seeing what breweries are doing well and which are not.

Some of the more notable moves, as compared to the 2024 list of the 50 largest craft brewing companies were:

Beers with strong brand identity such as Garage Beer and Outlaw (by Tivoli Brewing Company) enjoyed growth. Garage Beer and Tivoli are 22nd and 18th on the list of 50 largest craft breweries, respectively, despite not being on the 2024 list at all.

While D. G. Yuengling and Son maintained its position as the largest craft brewery in American, Sierra Nevada Brewing, which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary, took over second position from Boston Beer, which fell to third.

Athletic Brewing which makes the best-selling family of non-alcoholic beers by dollar, jumped two positions to sixth in 2025, from eighth in 2024.

BrewDog Brewing, once a darling of the industry because of its irreverent attitude and media stunts, fell to the 35th position in 2025 from 30th in 2024. In March 2026, Tilray (which already holds fourth position) ...More info on site

Brewery news EU: Brewers call for clarity on EU packaging regulation
The Brewers of Europe welcomes the European Commission’s latest guidance on the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Freshly Bottled reported on April 9.

While it provides useful direction, brewers emphasize that critical questions remain unresolved, creating uncertainty for businesses planning their transition.

“This regulation’s environmental goals are fully supported. However, companies urgently need clarity on how certain rules will work in practice. Packaging transitions require significant investments in production and logistics. Clear guidance ensures efficiency, protects consumers, and avoids unnecessary costs,” said Julia Leferman, Secretary-General of The Brewers of Europe.

Key concerns include plastic grouped packaging, reusable labelling provisions, and unclear criteria for reuse exemptions. Without guidance, well-functioning reuse and deposit-return systems risk disruption, and premature or inefficient investments could harm both businesses and environmental outcomes.

Brewers urge the European Commission to provide clear, comprehensive, and timely guidance to support a smooth, sustainable, and economically efficient transition to the new packaging rules. Further detailed updates and Q&A are expected in 2026 to provide the legal certainty needed for implementation.

Brewery news China: China’s tax authority closes consumption tax loophole for brewers
From 1 April 2026 Chinese brewers are no longer be able reduce their consumption tax liabilities by lowering declared product pricing using affiliated distributors, Asia Brewers Network reported.

China’s State Administration of Taxation (SAT) has tightened its consumption tax regime for brewers by closing a long-standing loophole that allowed them to reduce their tax liabilities, according to report by Yicai Global, the English-language digital news service of Shanghai-based Yicai Media Group, one of China’s leading financial media groups.

Under the revised rules, formally announced on 2 April 2026 by SAT in an official announcement that took effect from 1 April 2026, beer producers must now calculate consumption tax based on the higher of their ex-factory selling price or the market price realised by affiliated distributors. Previously, some brewers had established related sales companies and distributors and transferred products to them at artificially low prices, thereby lowering the taxable base.

The new framework effectively eliminates this practice by aligning tax calculations with the ultimate market pricing. Consumption tax represents a substantial fiscal burden for brewers in China. Industry data cited shows that for some listed producers the levy can account for between 70% and 75% of their total tax bill.

The reform comes amid a ...More info on site

Brewery news Costa Rica: Heineken consolidates its business in Central America
Heineken Costa Rica will be the name of the company's new subsidiary following the integration of the beverage, food, and retail operations acquired from Florida Ice and Farm Company, Freshly Bottled reported on April 16.

The official unveiling of the new name and logo marks a new phase for its presence in Central America, reinforcing the group's regional strategy and expanding its global footprint.

Heineken Costa Rica currently has more than 4,500 employees, four production plants, 13 distribution centres, and a portfolio of more than 50 prestigious brands, including Imperial, Tropical, Pilsen, Bavaria, and Ducal. Heineken Costa Rica maintains a strong sustainability agenda and philosophy, aligned with global commitments regarding water conservation, carbon emission reduction, the circular economy, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The new Heineken Costa Rica logo harmoniously and symbolically merges the legacy of two companies, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Central America and reflecting their ambition to integrate their potential into a single identity.

Brewery news India: Mount Everest Breweries exceeds one million hectolitres in annual sales
India’s Mount Everest Breweries Limited (MEBL) has announced it has exceeded one million hectolitres in annual sales, positioning it as one of India’s fastest-growing beer producers. The milestone translates into approximately 12.8 million cases sold, reflecting robust demand across its widening national footprint, Asia Brewers Network reported on April 13.

The growth has been led by MEBL’s flagship brand STOK, which crossed one million cases in cumulative sales, driven by rapid expansion over the past three years. The brand is now distributed across 14 states and three Union Territories, a notable achievement in India’s highly regulated and state-fragmented alcohol market, where distribution licences and taxation structures vary significantly by region. The company’s broader portfolio, including Lemount and Mount, has also extended reach to more than seven states.

The performance is set against a backdrop of the steadily expanding Indian beer sector, where annual volumes are estimated at more than 350 million cases, with premium and strong beer segments continuing to be strongest drivers of growth. Industry data suggests that strong beers account for more than 80% of total consumption, the segment in which STOK is positioned.

MEBL’s aggressive expansion strategy has sustained its double-digit growth with targeted investment in local production capacity. The ...More info on site

Barley news France: Farm ministry maintains winter barley area forecast, estimates 16% decline for spring barley
France’s farm ministry said on April 14 it expects the area planted with soft wheat, the country’s main cereal crop, to reach 4.61 million hectares for this year’s harvest, up 2.6percent from last year, and in line with the five-year average, Reuters reported.

It slightly cut its estimate for winter wheat to 4.58 million hectares, below the 4.59 million projected in February and 0.4percent below average.

Favourable autumn weather had raised expectations that the soft wheat area would hold steady, despite falling prices. In an initial forecast, the ministry estimated France’s sugar beet area for this year’s harvest at 379,000 hectares, down 4.6percent from the area harvested in 2025 and 4.9percent below the five-year average.

Farmers across Europe have increasingly turned away from sugar beet amid a slump in sugar prices that has led to factory closures in recent years.

The ministry maintained its forecast for the 2026 winter barley area at 1.26 million hectares, up 5.9percent year on year. However, it estimated spring barley plantings at 501,000 hectares, a 16percent decline compared with 2025/26.

The ministry estimated that the area devoted to rapeseed, France’s main oilseed crop, would rise to 1.38 million hectares, up 9percent year on year.

Analysts have anticipated an increase in rapeseed ...More info on site

Whisky news World: Pernod Ricard says Iran war to hit full-year sales despite Q3 rebound
Pernod Ricard, which is in talks to merge with U.S. rival Brown-Forman, reported a stronger-than-expected 0.1% rise in third-quarter sales but warned the decline in tourism due to the Iran war would hurt its travel retail business and impact full-year sales, Reuters reported on April 16.

The second-largest Western spirits group behind Diageo said it expected group organic net sales to decline by 3% to 4% in the current fiscal year that started July 1; its shares fell 1.7% at 0819 GMT.

Pernod is the latest company to report a significant hit to sales due to the conflict in the Middle East, after France’s luxury groups all pointed to weaker sales in the first three months of the year following a sharp slowdown in shopping in the region.

Duty-free stores selling premium perfumes and spirits are also feeling the pain from shuttered airports and curbs on travel to the region.

Travel retail accounted for 6% of Pernod’s net sales in 2025.

The maker of Martell cognac and Absolut vodka reported sales of 1.95 billion euros ($2.30 billion) in the three months to March 31, a like-for-like rise of 0.1%.

This compared with average expectations of a 0.7% decline in a company-compiled poll of analysts.

The performance was ...More info on site
