Malaysia & Singapore: Heineken Malaysia to start exports to Singapore in Q3 2027
|
Heineken Malaysia Bhd said its current production capacity is sufficient to support exports to Singapore, with no plans to expand its existing brewery. Exports are expected to start in the third quarter of 2027, The Edge Malaysia reported on August 5.
Managing director Martijn van Keulen told The Edge at the sidelines of Heineken Malaysia’s media briefing the company has enough capacity to meet the additional demand but did not disclose details on expected volume growth, utilisation rates or financial impact.
The company is also planning production line upgrades to improve efficiency and support future demand.
Heineken Malaysia reported a weaker net profit for the three months ended June 30, 2026 (2QFY2026) performance, with net profit falling 39.1% to RM50.5 million and revenue declining 19.4% to RM434.8 million due to challenging market conditions. The company said it could not provide earnings guidance for the rest of the year, as performance remains dependent on consumer sentiment and external factors.
The Singapore export opportunity comes as Heineken shifts production from its Tuas brewery in Singapore to Malaysia and Vietnam. The move is expected to increase Heineken Malaysia’s export contribution, which currently makes up less than 1% of total sales, while strengthening its role in

Japan & UK: Japanese brewery Orion expands UK presence
|
Japanese brewery Orion has announced a renewal of its partnership with drinks collective Sunrise Beverages as demand for international beer grows in the UK, the Drinks Retailing News reported on August 4.
According to Sunrise Beverages, the renewal marks a commitment to expanding Orion’s brand presence across the UK, both in premium retail and the on-trade.
The update, which reflects the popularity of Japanese beer, comes as Carlsberg Britvic adds Sapporo to its portfolio.
Like Sunrise, Carlsberg said it is capitalising on growing consumer interest in Japanese beer, with plans to become the brand’s full licence partner.
Reflecting on its continued partnership with Orion, which first began in 2024, Sunrise said it has already seen success through several listings, including one with premium retailer Waitrose.
It added that it plans to continue its strong month-on-month growth by tapping into consumers’ desire for more premium drinking experiences.
Richard Mather, CEO of Sunrise Beverages, said: “We’re delighted to further strengthen our partnership with Orion through this long-term agreement.
“Orion is one of Japan’s most iconic beer brands, with a unique heritage, exceptional liquid and a proposition that is increasingly resonating with UK consumers.
“Over the last few years, we’ve demonstrated that
