The former illustrious president of Miller , John Arthur Murphy died at
hospital on the 16th of June at the age of 72 . John Arthur Murphy was
recognized as an eminent president of Miller owing to his hard work ,
talent, implemented innovations- all that brought Miller Brewing Company
on the second place in the top of largest breweries from USA. For his
successes and talent he had been awarded numerous prizes and received such
nominations as "Marketing statesman of the year." and "Man of the year". In
1992 John Arthur Murphy retired but didn't stop to be close to its
company by visiting it weekly.
More great brewers are eying the beer market from China due to its
tremendous growing potential . According to the Chinese press one of these,
would be the Dutch Heineken.
This press states that Heineken would like to strengthen its position in
this country and for this purpose it is having negotiations with some
breweries from the North of China which it is eager to acquire.
Nevertheless, Heineken has not confirmed or denied this information .
Morrells of Oxford Ltd owing 107 pubs in England has been purchased by the
British Brewer Greene King PLC. The value of this acquisition , which Greene
King considers very profitable, is of GBP67.0 mln.
Beer demand is growing in China and the Belgium's giant Interbrew is
effectively reacting to this change .
The Belgian brewer intends to increase by 600.000 hectoliters the capacity of its brewery from Nanjing which currently has a capacity of 400000 hectoliters.
It is estimated that the new investment will cost Interbrew EUR 14,5 mln.
Kirin brewery from Japan will be exluded in August from the lists of the
stock exchanges from Zurich Paris and Frankfurt. This was communicated by
the brewer itself that said that it intends to apply for this exclusion as
the trading volume of shares at these stock exchanges has had a quite low
level.
The well-known Czech beer Pilsner Urquell is enjoying a tremendous success
in Poland . According to statistics it is the most imported beer here and
at present it possesses a 20% share in the Polish imported beer market .
The preference of Polish beer drinkers for Pilsner Urquell has
significantly grown during last year, the proof of this being higher
imports for this year - 108000 hectoliters of Pilsner Urquell which is an
year-on year rise in imports of 40000 hectoliters.
