Brewery news

A southeast Wisconsin-based brewing company is planning to open a second, significantly larger location in the Fox Valley this spring, Yahoo reported on January 23.

Ope! Brewing Co., a dog-friendly brewery based in West Allis, announced plans to open a new Appleton location on a 2.5-acre site at the former Car City dealership at 1932 W. College Ave.

The expansion comes as the brewery continues to experience rapid growth since launching in 2022. The Appleton facility will span approximately 23,000 square feet across four buildings and feature two taprooms.

Plans for the site include two sand volleyball courts, four outdoor pickleball courts, indoor and outdoor live-music stages, a designated food truck area, and expansive outdoor seating.

The new location will also include a pilot brewhouse for developing new beer recipes, along with additional equipment for cider production.

Both taprooms will feature a total of 12 roll-up garage doors designed to create an open indoor-outdoor environment during warmer months.

As with the West Allis location, all areas of the Appleton brewery will be dog-friendly.

Ope! Brewing Co. is operated by co-owners John Onopa and Kyle Ciske. The original West Allis brewery has become known for its rotating food trucks, sand volleyball leagues, cornhole leagues and pet-friendly atmosphere — concepts that will carry over and expand at the Appleton site.

In fall 2025, the brewery partnered with Beechwood Sales and Service and Triangle Distributing Co. to begin regional distribution of its core beers, helping drive continued growth across Wisconsin.

The Appleton location is expected to open later this spring.
