Cobra Beer of UK is acquiring 76 percent stake in Regal Breweries marking the first equity investment of Cobra Beer in India, The Financial Times commented on August 23rd.

Regal Breweries is setting up a greenfield brewery in Patiala, Punjab. The plant will be set up with an initial investment of Rs70 crore to Rs80 crore and it will have production capacity of 3.5 lakh cases per month.

Cobra Beer, which is expanding its contract bottling arrangements in India, is targeting sales of 2.5 million cases in 2007-2008.
