The Anheuser-Busch Foundation is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross to aid relief efforts for victims of last week's thunderstorms and tornadoes that swept across the southern United States, St. Louis Business Journal published February 14.

The storms killed at least 55 people, making it the deadliest tornado outbreak in the United States in more than 20 years. The Red Cross is providing assistance in communities affected by the storms in Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana and Tennessee.

In addition to providing $100,000, Anheuser-Busch has donated more than 154,000 cans of drinking water for the victims of the storms and relief workers.

"We hope our donation can bring some relief to these families and to the emergency workers who are doing so much to assist those affected by this disaster," Dave Peacock, vice president of marketing, Anheuser-Busch Inc., and vice chairman of the board of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Red Cross, said in a statement.

The Anheuser-Busch Foundation is the philanthropic arm of St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., which through its Anheuser-Busch Inc. subsidiary, is the leading domestic brewer, holding a 48.5 percent share of U.S. beer sales. The company also manufactures and recycles aluminum cans and operates theme parks.
