Brewery news

Paisley’s famous Beer Festival comes of age this year as it celebrates its twenty first birthday in the town, Budge PR reported April 10.

Running at Paisley Town Hall from Wednesday 30th April to Saturday 3rd May, Scotland’s biggest Beer Festival attracts thousands to sample over 130 real cask conditioned ales and ciders and an array of exotic foreign beers.

Among the local breweries in attendance will be the Kelburn Brewing Company from Barrhead whose Goldihops ale recently won the accolade of ‘Best Bitter in Scotland’.

In a closely fought competition with the other breweries in attendance, their finest ales will be sampled by a judging panel who will award gold, silver and bronze medals to the best beers.

Live entertainment will be provided on the evening of Friday 2nd May by Medicinal Brew, the traditional Scottish folk music group and on Saturday 3rd May by the Caledonian Brewery Pipe Band.

The admission price of £5 includes a souvenir glass and covers entry on all 4 days of the Festival.

The Paisley Beer Festival is sponsored by Paisley Vision Board and Renfrewshire Council. Council leader Derek Mackay said, “This is a fantastic event which has, over the years, attracted thousands of real ale enthusiasts to visit Paisley, to sample the finest beers from around the world. Staging top quality events is very much part of our strategy to put Paisley on the map, attract visitors to the town and entertain the local community”.
