Scottish & Newcastle announced on October 10 that Bob Ivell, Chairman and Managing Director of S&N Retail intends to resign from the Board of Scottish & Newcastle plc upon completion of the sale of S&N Retail to Spirit Amber. Completion of the sale is anticipated in early November, subject to approval by S&N shareholders at an EGM to be held on 29th October.

“I would like to thank Bob for his great contribution to Scottish & Newcastle over the last eleven years. As a senior member of the Retail management team, and as Managing Director since 1999, Bob has been a key figure in creating the high quality business of S&N Retail. In recent months his professionalism in managing the business during the potentially disruptive sale process has been exemplary, and I know that he will approach the integration of the business into Spirit Amber with the same level of commitment and skill. Bob is highly regarded, both by S&N and the wider pub industry as an excellent operator and leader, and I am confident that his skills will be much in demand,” Tony Froggatt, Chief Executive of Scottish & Newcastle said.

In a separate announcement made by Spirit Amber this morning it is confirmed that following the completion of the sale Bob Ivell will assist in the integration process of the Retail business into the expanded Spirit Group.
