E-Malt.com News article: Canada: Molson Coors serves microcarbonated M beer
Brewery news

Canadian brewer Molson Coors has unveiled a new beer named simply M, New Brunswick Business Journal reported on March, 20.

The beer sets itself apart from other lagers by a patent-pending microcarbonation process that gently injects CO2 into the beer using smaller, finer bubbles to attain what Molson calls "an ideal level of carbonation" that brings its subtle flavours to the fore.

M (4.9% alc. vol.) is already available at all Alcool NB Liquor stores.

"It is an evolution, or a revolution, in the brewing process," Geoff Molson, representing the seventh generation of Canada's famous brewing family, said.

For centuries, beer has been brewed basically the same way. With M, Molson injects tiny bubbles into the beer as one of the last steps in the brewing process, at the filtration stage. It has to be done just a certain way to get the desired result, Molson said without giving away too many secrets.

"The brewers and our team spent a couple of years developing this brand and certainly at least a full year developing the liquid," he said.

"With its unique microcarbonation process, we are convinced beyond a doubt that Molson M will satisfy the tastes of the most demanding beer aficionados who expect nothing but the best," Julie Sanchez, Molson M's brand manager, said.

M is brewed at Molson's Montreal brewery but if it catches on, it will be brewed in Moncton in the future.

M will be rolled out in Nova Scotia on March 29 and in P.E.I. on April 1.
