Brewery news

Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma brewery will start to produce Heineken beer in Mexico next year, El Semanario reported on October, 26.

According to Arnulfo Treviño, the Mexican brewer’s corporate relations director, said the beer will be brewed at the plant in Orizaba, Veracruz, as part of an agreement signed in April this year.

New equipment has been installed to meet the requirements for producing Heineken, he said.

The goal is to equal or surpass the success achieved by introducing locally brewed Heineken in other South American nations, such as Argentina and Chile, Treviño said.

Heineken is a premium segment product, costing 30-40% higher than mainstream beer. According to Mr. Treviño, Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma will focus on strengthening its positions in the premium segment, though the light segment of the market is the fastest growing one.
