Carlsberg Malawi Limited is struggling to meet the beverage demands in the country as it is failing to source the necessary raw materials including glass bottles due to forex shortage, Malawi Today posted on November, 30.

A current shortage of empty glass bottles has hit local beverage company Carlsberg Malawi Limited effectively affecting production and supply of beverages in the country.

Carlsberg CEO Chanje says while Carlsberg was engaging suppliers in sourcing raw materials, the issue of glass bottles remains a major challenge affecting business operations.

Carlsberg Malawi plans to invested $11 million in the construction of two new plants in Lilongwe and Mzuzu in order to increase the production capacity to produce and distribute beverages on the market.

Although Lilongwe plant is now operational and has increased the production capacity of soft drinks to 80 percent, the present challenges are affecting the supply of the beverages on the market.
