Brewery news

Heineken's subsidiary in Rwanda, Bralirwa, has appointed Jonathan Hall as its new MD, the Dutch brewing giant reported on December, 15.

Hall will take up the post on 16 January, following the departure of current MD Sven-Erik Piederiet. Piederiet is leaving to become CEO of Salentein Argentina, said Bralirwa, which is 75%-owned by Heineken.

Hall will arrive in Rwanda from St Lucia, where he has been MD of Heineken-owned Windward and Leeward Brewery. Prior to this posting, he has held senior management positions across Heineken's business in Asia-Pacific and Western Europe.

Bralirwa's chairman, Jean-Paul van Hollebeke, said of Piederiet: "Under his strong leadership as MD and general manager he has significantly improved Bralirwa’s performance and substantially increased shareholder value." Piederiet has been MD of Bralirwa since June 2011, when his role changed from that of general manager, a post he took up in January 2009.
