Brewery news

Cambridge Brewing Company has released their first batch of Belgian-style strong ale Tripel Threat as part of their new Bottling Project, in 22oz. bottles for sale throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, local media reported on December, 13.

Tripel Threat Batch 1 is a limited release of only 320 cases and is available through CBC's Bottle Project distributor, the Craft Brewers Guild.

According to Michael Jackson (the British one, aka The Beer Hunter), CBC was the first American brewery to create and produce a Belgian-style beer, in 1990.

The bottle label pays homage to CBC’s first Head Brewer, Darryl Goss, who developed Tripel Threat and who was diagnosed with ALS in 2006. Proceeds from all bottle sales of Tripel Threat will benefit research for a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Tripel Threat Batch 2 is scheduled to be bottled in January 2012 in greater quantity. Tripel Threat will be one of two beers produced on a mostly-year-round basis.

More Bottle Project scheduled releases:

The Audacity of Hops: A Belgian double IPA that will be the second mostly-year-round beer. Batch 1 will be released in quantity of 560 cases on approximately December 21, 2011.

Bannatyne's Scotch Ale: A Scotch-style strong ale that will be bottled for release on approximately December 28, 2011. 720 cases will be produced.

Sgt. Pepper: CBC's farmhouse ale with four peppercorns will be released by February 10, 2012. 720 case production.

Weekapaug Gruit: Third in the series, to be released sometime in early April.
