The James River Brewing opened in Scottsville, being the first brewery in the area, newsplex.com reported on September, 1.

Co-owner Dustin Caster has been working for two years with a business partner to get the brewery doors open.

"The beautiful tasting room that we put together seems to be kind of the key thing that people are latching onto," said co-owner Christopher Kyle. "We're really fortunate to have the turnout we've had."

The new business hopes to show a sign of recovery to an area that has seen economic hard times.

"We want to bring an anchor, a business down here that is sustainable in a small town and hopefully that other business will parley off of as we're moving forward," said Kyle.

The brewery has a tasting room but owners say they are also focused on product distribution.

Owners said the Scottsville brewed beer will be available on tap soon in Charlottesville.
