Brewery news

New Belgium Brewing Co. is branching out internationally, starting with the Great White North in September, Coloradoan reported on July, 17.

Canadian distribution will begin on September, 6 and will be limited to British Columbia, according to Brewing Sales Co-Pilot Brian Krueger.

“We’ve been looking internationally a little bit,” Krueger said. “And Canada, especially British Columbia, became a natural fit.”

He said he was impressed that Canadians knew about New Belgium and expects a great response.

When distribution starts, it will include Fat Tire, Shift and a seasonal beer. After about 60 days, the company will begin to “gradually introduce the rest of the portfolio,” Krueger said.

The move is part of a large expansion for the company. New Belgium became available in Florida last month and will be available in Delaware by the middle of August. It is looking to reach into Utah before the end of the year.

The company this year increased capacity at its Fort Collins brewery enough that it has pushed back construction on a new brewery in Asheville, N.C., until 2014. The company now distributes in 32 states.
