E-Malt.com News article: USA, PA: Ruckus Brewing Co. to open a new facility
Brewery news

The owners of Ruckus Brewing Co. provided more details of their new operation at the former Neuweiler Brewery in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Leigh Valley reported on August, 22.

CEO Josh Wood said the site will produce about 100,000 barrels of beer a year, compared to the 5,000 to 10,000 barrels Ruckus makes in Cooperstown Brewing in Milford, N.Y.

Ruckus officials said the brewery may be online by the end of 2014, but more likely early 2015.

The biggest obstacle right now is the abandoned Neuweiler building, built in 1913 at Front and Liberty streets on the Lehigh River waterfront but abandoned after it closed in the last 1960s. Wood said the company has a three-phase construction plan and will develop three of the seven buildings at the site.

Ruckus officials previously said the Allentown brewery is likely to become the new Ruckus headquarters, complete with a brewpub and a centre for tours.

In addition to its popular labels Hoptimus Prime and Hedonism, Ruckus revived Reading Premium beer. Asked if there may be an Allentown or Lehigh Valley named brew, Wood said the company is investigating the idea and “obviously the Neuweiler name is sitting there.”
