The town of Power, Montana will officially be home to a new 10 acre MillerCoors facility by December of this year, Kaj 18 reported on September 27.

The building started in March, and officials hope at the end of construction, the new facility will be able to hold more than three million bushels of barley.

The grain elevator is fully funded by the company with no burden on taxpayers.

One additional elevator can be found in Huntley right now, but regional managers were pleased to pick Power for a new location.

"We have been purchasing barley since the early 70's; and then we moved out. We thought it was a great area to grow barely since we've always received consistent quality from here. Also, as the need of barley moves west from North Dakota, we can get more barley here," MillerCoors Northern Montana Regional Manager Kris Smelser said.

Smelser hopes the facility will have a positive effect on nearby businesses due to the future increase in activity with growers. The new facility sits on the 1800 block on Highway 431 in Power.
