Mabibo Beer Wines and Spirit Limited has assured its customers that it would work on obstacles hampering the increase of sales volume of Windhoek Premium Larger amid its plan of setting a plant for brewing the beers in Tanzania, Daily News reported on January 6.

The company has exclusive rights of importing and distributing the beer brand in the country. It is currently importing the products from Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL), the manufacturer of Windhoek.

Mabibo’s Director General Benedictor Rugemalira told a news conference that his company would also make sure that bar owners and other sellers stick to the recommended price of 58,000/- per carton so that the beers reach customers at cheap price.

“Bar owners are required to sell a bottle of Windhoek at 3,000/- or a differential of 500/- of local beer. Through such price, the bar owner is assured of reaping a profit of 14,000/- per carton. This profit cannot be obtained from any other local beer in the country,” she stressed.

Ms Rugemalira said that if bar owners would adhere to the price recommended by her company, the volume of sales of Windhoek would go up. She thanked bar outlets that have stuck to the price and promised to work with them closely to ensure the business flourish.

“I know we are facing a lot of challenges, in particular that of smuggling Windhoek in the country from South Africa. But we assure our customers that we will serve them diligently and will be supplied with the best Windhoek from Namibia at the recommended price of 3,000/- per bottle,” she insisted.

She reminded the customers that Windhoek beer distributed by her company has a specific mark of MB66 distributed by Mabibo Beer Wines and Spirit Limited and not any other company.

The International Independent Consultant with Mabibo, Mr James Rugemalira, was recently quoted as saying that Mabibo has enough stock and has a liberal policy, whoever want to do business would be supplied anywhere in Tanzania at a price of 58,000 per carton.

The Managing Director of Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL), Mr Hendrik van der Westhuizen, who was in the country last November was quoted as saying that importation and distribution of Windhoek in Tanzania market brewed under licence from South Africa was illegal.

He said that NBL has licensed Black River Park North of Cape Town, South Africa, to produce and distribute Windhoek larger in that country, but their agreement does not allow such products to be sold elsewhere.

“What is produced in South Africa should be sold in South Africa and is meant for South Africans and not any other country. The importation and distribution of the beer brand outside South Africa is illegal and outside our agreement,” he emphasised.
