Brewery news

The Gwinnett County Planning Commission helped pave the way this week for the owner of Atlanta's popular Wrecking Bar Brewpub to build a craft beer brewery in Gwinnett, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported on January 8.

Bob Sandage is asking Gwinnett to rezone 7 acres in Loganville for the business, reports Gwinnett Daily Post.

The planning board said at its January 6 meeting it will recommend the zoning change. The matter now goes to the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners for consideration later this month.

Only one person spoke in opposition to the plan during the board's meeting, the paper said.

Sandage said he expects to produce approximately 5,000 barrels of beer per year initially with each holding 31 gallons. Within five to 10 years, annual production could reach 10,000 to 15,000 barrels, the Gwinnett paper reported.

Sandage wants to build the brewery - which would be open for tours weekends - on the existing Dillwood Farms in the 4500 block of Brushy Ford Road. He said he plans to continue agricultural operations at the farm to supply produce to the Wrecking Bar Brewpub and others, the paper said.
